RegulaOne3000 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Your watching something let's say "Price is Right" and suddenly the TV station or Network interrupts TV programming for a special report about something. What's the scariest special report theme you heard? Me it would be these two CBS News 1984 Special Report http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58hmsB2EL8E CBS News Special Report 2005 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_Z3NPhGqeA Both have an end of the world cataclysmic feeling to them especially the 1984 one which was broadcasted during the end of the Cold War.
DMA 135 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Well those aren't horrible, but I find the NBC one, and the WCBS 880 AM ones to be pretty urgent.
mediadorkx07 0 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I agree, every time the NBC one comes on I'm like "oh no, now what happened..." ABC's current one is too boring.
News24/7 3 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 Tower v1 Breaking news! Nuff said! i run across the room when i hear that! my dog perks her ears too
Mario500 3 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 I have actually enjoyed NBC's current "Special Report" music (part four of "The Mission" theme music package and the "Meet the Preess" theme) and CBS' previous theme. You may be surprised to hear these pieces of music after your favorite TV program was interrupted, but you learn to enjoy them if you don't think about them too much. ABC's current one is too boring. It also needs a diffrent announcer. May I suggest Bill Rice, ABC's longtime announcer?
jestbiteme 13 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 NBC's by far. Agreed-- it's scary. CBS's former theme was up there, too; but the present one is less scary while still being urgent. Everytime I hear the NBC open and the former CBS theme, I'm taken back to the Kennedy plane crash. :-( [yt]7ANkIodyez8[/yt]
Amra 171 Posted June 29, 2008 Posted June 29, 2008 NBC's and also WCBS old one. http://youtube.com/watch?v=DF39BiaXAwk
Chief-O 34 Posted June 30, 2008 Posted June 30, 2008 CBS, no doubt. Us "Price is Right" fans dread it to this day.
RetroCirq 148 Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 CBS' date=' no doubt. Us "Price is Right" fans dread it to this day.[/quote'] Imagine if CBS News used it during the SUPERBOWL!!!
mbhcity 3 Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 NBC sounds creepy, but what about ABC....that informal rendition of their four-note theme, the huge globe, the gloomy colors and that Special Report font...it screams...holy crap, something really bad is going on! Here's an example of a network cut-in from 2007 for a Presidential Speech. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TvmJe5calcs&feature=related
Weeters 1969 Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 [YT]E4Fq7oIlpMo[/YT] Locally, I choose WITI's. When they do it correctly and break in seamlessly, the music and (sometimes) the really catch your attention.
bostonmediaguy 124 Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 CBS' "America at War" theme... http://homepage.uvt.nl/~s485261/cbsaaw.rm
johnnya2k6 171 Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 What about the scariest "Special Report" slide/graphic? CBS' Bulletin slide from 1963 (when they cut away from "As The World Turns" to report on the Kennedy assassination) as well as ABC's from the '80s come to mind. Jonathan Allen
RegulaOne3000 0 Posted July 10, 2008 Author Posted July 10, 2008 fox ain't even scary, its just tabloidish. CBS 1995-2006 Special Report trumphs them all. Don't tell me you don't get an "End-of-the world-apocalypse" kind of felling when it comes on during a program.
