CBS2HD 1
From the site: "WNBC's Team 4 New York anchors have selected two of their favorite Olympic sports. Now we're asking you-the viewer- to cast your vote and tell the team what sport you'd like them to take on! After the results are announced on Friday, July 18, you'll be able to read their blogs as they train and watch them on the air as they test their Olympic prowess." I think this is a pretty cool idea. cast your vote at http://www.wnbc.com/team4ny/index.html Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4075-team-4ny-olympic-challenge/ Share on other sites
TellyGenic 33
I see Sue Simmons isn't among the potential athletes. Guess she's too afraid her wig might not stay on straight. Or is it that Sue just doesn't sweat? Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4075-team-4ny-olympic-challenge/#findComment-37478 Share on other sites
username23 1
I don't really think it's appropriate for the evening news anchors to participate in this contest. It's silly, really. They are journalists, and while it is nice to have audience participation, this stands to hurt their credibility because there is the potential form the anchors to be seen as goofballs and not serious journalists who are capable of giving us the news. Hmmmmmmm journalists might actually be human. Are you freakin serious??? Maybe they're having fun. Is it possible to show your lighter side and still be taken seriously or once you go light you can't ever go frowny face again? Not to mention, journliast "approval" ratings have steadily declined over the last ten years...and not because they play games. username23 1
I'm not saying anchors can't have fun, I'm just saying silly stunts have their place. It's one thing if the morning show does something like this, but I feel as though journalists should not become the story, but rather report the story. There's just a certain amount of distance a reporter should have with a story and the Olympics are certainly a story. NYNews 54
I don't really think it's appropriate for the evening news anchors to participate in this contest. It's silly, really. I seriously disagree. I think the idea is original and a great way to welcome in the olympics. I don't think you're even familiar with the segments. None of the videos and pictures presented depicts the participants as "goofballs", in fact it shows their determination and willingness to really learn that particular sport. I don't understand your stance on the point of credibility. If you want to talk about decreasing credibility, your talking about the wrong channel, try WCBS.
