Some WOI, KCAU, KLKN, and WHBF Viewers May be left in the Dark Come Midnight Saturday

Recommended Posts

It appears a spat has brewed up over compensation for signal retransmission between Citadel Communications (owners of WOI, KCAU, KLKN, and WHBF) and DBS Giant, Dish Network. Much similar to the incident that occurred a little over a year ago between Sinclair Broadcast Group and Mediacom.

Ray Cole, president of Citadel Communications told the Des Moines Register, negotiations over a new “carriage agreement” between Citadel and the Dish Network broke down over the amount of money Dish Network would pay Citadel for carrying broadcasts. “We find it unfortunate for our viewers and their subscribers,” said Cole.

According to the article, Citadel made a new carriage proposal over two months ago. They go on to tell the Des Moines Register, that it wasn't until the last 10 days that both sides have been actively engaged in negotiation. However it appears that negotiations have come to a stalemate as Citadel is threatening to pull their signals from Dish Network's system at Midnight Saturday.
