DMA 135 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Today I was playing around with my tuner, and I happened to get a faint signal of WPHL in Philadelphia. I remember a few years ago, my father got a good signal of WPHL, so I decided to give it a try. I came up with a really crap signal, but it's better than nothing. What's the best DX you've ever gotten, if you've gotten anything at all?
Ntropolis 598 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I've picked up these on e-skip... KJRH 2 Tulsa, OK KFSM 5 Ft. Smith, AR KHAS 5 Hastings, NE KFDM 6 Port Arthur, TX WDSU 6 New Orleans, LA WPSD 6 Paducah, KY KOTV 6 Tulsa, OK And an un-ID'd NBC station on channel 5, which I think might have been WMC. My best tropos were WPSG from Philly and WTOC and WJCL from Savannah. There was also one morning a couple years ago where WPDE came right over WHRO and WBTW ghosted over WVEC.
kjohnson 17 Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I haven't had any good ones since I went to digital; but here's a sampling: WPSD 6, Paducah, KY (NBC) WSIL 3, Paducal, KY (ABC) KFVS 12, Cape Girardeau, MO (CBS) KHQA 7, Hannibal, MO (CBS) WGEM 10, Quincy, IL (NBC) WSIU 8, Carbondale, IL (PBS) WPXS 13, Mt. Vernon, IL (ION?) KMIZ 17, Columbia/Jefferson City, MO (ABC) KCRG 13, Columbia/Jefferson City, MO (CBS) KOMU 8, Columbia/Jefferson City, MO (NBC) WICS 20, Springfield/Decatur, IL (ABC) These are quick blurbs, usually only last for about 5-10 minutes, although in KHQA's case, it would come in strong from about 5am straight through about 9am during the summer, until KPTN-LP 7 signed on last year.
Que 73 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 For some strange reason one day I got WTVJ in Miami from DFW. Don't know how or why, but I did get it. Course, it only lasted for a few minutes.

Course, it only lasted for a few minutes. It was probably e-skip. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TV/FM_DX#Sporadic_E_propagation_.28E-skip.29
Weeters 1969 Posted August 24, 2008 Posted August 24, 2008 I've gotten (TV or DT signal indicated): WPBN/WTOM-TV WOOD-TV WZZM-TV/DT WNDU-TV/DT WSBT-TV/DT WLS-TV/DT WMAQ-TV/DT WGN-TV/DT WFLD-TV/DT WPWR-TV/DT WMSN-TV That's all I can recall right now. I have a better list somewhere.

Yeah, I hate that when KTPN-LP came on. I got KHQA pretty strong for a long period of time. This is similar to what I have picked up on my antenna. Lucky for me, I live on top of a hill NW of St. Louis in St. Charles and there are times when these stations come in pretty clear for a long period of time. In addition to those above, I've gotten: WAND 17 Decatur, IL WRSP 55 Springfield, IL K38II (KQFZ-TV) Columbia, MO KZOU-LP Columbia, MO Now with digital, I can't even get KETC and barely KMOV where I am now.
DMA 135 Posted August 28, 2008 Author Posted August 28, 2008 I actually got a viewable signal from WPHL! Edit: I'm also getting WTXF: I am also getting WPSG:
