What about the NBC O&O's and affiliates switching to Weather Scan?

Difference between that and Weather Plus is Weather Scan currently does not offer live or taped weather reports, just graphics.

I think many stations will continue running a WX subchannel, possibly with the WeatherPlus name.

Especially those like WTMJ who have the WX+ name heavily integrated on the set, in print, on the radio, and the web.

With the closing of Weather Plus, this could pave the way for NBC launch Universal Sports fulltime in WX+'s place, while (at least here in L.A.), the NBC O&Os can go ahead and launch their local news channels 24/7 (maybe with Weather Channel reports sprinkled in between). It makes too much sense.

I never fully understood why some stations (KABC for instance) having separate news and weather digital subchannels, while having a combined channel for all of that saves on bandwidth for HD purposes and channel space (at least as far being carried on cable).

I'm pretty sure Universal Sports IS being deployed across the O&Os.

WCAU has started carrying it on 10.3.
