International coverage of US Presidential Election

This is perhaps the most anticipated election since 2000, and the fact of the matter is, the story is getting massive coverage internationally. Election night will be covered probably like never before internationally. Here's what broadcasters outside the USA will be doing coverage wise.

BBC: A single programme will air simultaneously on 4 BBC channels around the globe. BBC One in the UK, BBC News Channel in the UK, BBC World News around the world, and BBC America in the US itself. The programme will be hosted by longtime election host David Dimbleby and World News America anchor Matt Frei from the BBC studios in Washington DC. The programme will also be streamed globally online. Former ABC Nightline anchor Ted Kopple will be one of the team providing analysis.

ITV: It seems unusual because of the way ITV has rundown their news coverage over the past 9 years, but ITV has commissioned an Election Night programme from their news provider, ITN. The programme will begin at Midnight and will be anchored by longtime anchor Alistair Stewart in London and former Sky News anchor Julie Etchingham in New York. It's a bit of a surprise that ITN isn't using their Washington studio for the programme but News At Ten will air from Washington DC earlier in the evening, and Mark Austin will anchor the ITV Evening News from the US as well.

Sky News: Sky News will have their own "White House" in Miami as part of their coverage. They will have anchors also in New York, Washington DC, Chicago and San Francisco. They will begin their coverage one hour before the first polls close.

CNN International: CNN International will take the election night programming from CNN Domestic.

Fox News: Fox News airs outside the US, without any changes, so it'll be their US election night programming, airing internationally as well as in the US.

CBC: CBC seems to be the only Canadian broadcaster to cover their neighbours election. Peter Mansbridge will anchor The National US Election Night Special from 10pm to 2AM ET.

Here's a taste of how some German TV networks will cover the election, according to these TV listings:

RTL will provide its election night coverage from a studio in New York's Times Square. The coverage will include live reports from 12 correspondents in the US, Russia, France, the UK and Israel, who will report on how the world is reacting to the results. RTL will also organize an election party in Berlin together with the German news channel n-tv and CNN. The coverage will include an interactive component, with contributions from bloggers and the like.

ZDF plans extensive live coverage throughout the night, with correspondents at the US Embassy in Berlin (where an election party is planned), several other German locations with US connections, New York, Washington, and the two campaign headquarters (Chicago and Phoenix).

ARD will base its coverage in Washington, with two primary anchors, several analysts, one person in charge of presenting the latest results, contributions from various correspondents, as well as talk segments hosted from Washington and New York.

Sat.1 and the 24-hour news channnel N24 will join forces to provide live election night coverage from Berlin and Washington, with anchors from both broadcasters.

CBC: CBC seems to be the only Canadian broadcaster to cover their neighbours election. Peter Mansbridge will anchor The National US Election Night Special from 10pm to 2AM ET.

They're not alone; CTV will probably have election updates every half-hour, followed by "The Daily Show's" Indecision 2008 Election Night show live from Comedy Central at 10:00 pm.

Global (from what I've read) will have an Election Night special as well; dunno about CityTV, but they may have election updates during primetime as well.

UPDATE: CBC's coverage will also be simulcast on C-SPAN2 here in the States (for those starting to get sick and tired of ours).
