rv65 3
http://ccinsider.comedycentral.com/cc_insider/2009/01/comedy-central-launches-comedy-central-hd.html Comedy Central HD has signed on a few days ago. Only Cablevision has it but Cox, Directv, and Dish will be carrying it shortly. U-verse will carry it soon. No word on Time Warner Cable or other Cableco's. Colbert Report and the Daily show will be upconverted from 4:3. Recent ep's of South Park will be in HD. Other shows, movies and events will be in HD. Over 200 Hours of HD programming. Hopefully by next year Colbert Report and The Daily Show will go HD. The Daily show's set is designed for 16:9 framing but they have to upgrade the equipment. Colbert Report is being taped at Hells Kitchen so they might move him to another studio that has HD. Weeters 1916
[/url]Hopefully by next year Colbert Report and The Daily Show will go HD. The Daily show's set is designed for 16:9 framing but they have to upgrade the equipment. Colbert Report is being taped at Hells Kitchen so they might move him to another studio that has HD. According to the NEP Broadcasting website (the company that owns the studios and equipment), both Studio 52 (Daily Show) and 54 (Colbert Report) have the same non-HD studio cameras. Of course, the website might be out of date. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4939-comedy-central-is-now-available-in-hd/#findComment-46299 Share on other sites
rv65 3
There are still some people who say the Daily Show set has been designed for 16:9 framing. They might keep the set and just center cut the HD for SD users. Maybe the set is designed for 16:9 but uses 4:3 safe filming. Colbert Report and the Daily show probably needs new equipment in order to go HD. qunewsguy 377
If it's anything like MTV HD or VH1 HD there won't be any HD material on it whatsoever. Talk about a waste of bandwidth. rv65 3
Actually it's not a waste of bandwidth. They made over 200 hours of HD content. Even South Park is now done in HD. Comcast has had some Comedy Central VOD content in HD. rv65 3
According to the South Park Website, season 13 will be the first season to be presented in HD. Older seasons will be remastered for HD. Season 12 is going to be the first on Blu-ray. qunewsguy 377
Cox runs "The Real World" and several other shows on demand in HD, and yet the new episodes airing on MTV HD itself are double-letterboxed in SD. We'll see what happens. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4939-comedy-central-is-now-available-in-hd/#findComment-46383 Share on other sites
caliwxdude 254
Cox runs "The Real World" and several other shows on demand in HD, and yet the new episodes airing on MTV HD itself are double-letterboxed in SD. We'll see what happens. Comcast also claimed to show some MTV shows like Real World and The Hills in HD On Demand, but they were letterboxed 4:3 SD shows that were obviously zoomed to fill a 16:9 screen. The ubiquitous MTV in-show snipes were definitely cut off. I'm not sure about Cox, but I'd be willing to bed this applies there as well. I think the only thing that MTV HD has actually shown in high definition was the 2008 VMAs. Total waste of a channel, if you ask me. qunewsguy 377
The one Viacom channel doing HD right is Spike. Almost everything on there is actually broadcast in HD, of course it helps that almost everything on there is a CSI show. VH1 and CMT are just as bad offenders as MTV HD is. Nothing in HD, ever. At least Palladia is all HD (even though it's probably only got about 60 hours of HD programming to cycle through) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/4939-comedy-central-is-now-available-in-hd/#findComment-46414 Share on other sites
rv65 3
Some remastered South Park episodes are being aired in HD. Season 12 repeats however, are being shown in HD. They did spend a whole year remastering all the seasons in HD. I'm sure they are going to release the older HD seasons on blu-ray to make more money. I guess South Park will be shown letterbox for the 4:3 SD or could be center cut. rv65 3
The 1st episode of Season 13 aired in Glorious HD. The south park website has the 1st episode if you want to stream it. Starting with Season 13 the episodes on sps the South Park website will now be in 16:9 SD so yeah. You'll need a high bandwidth connection for optimum performance.
