Around a month in' date=' did he implement any major changes? Anything good happening over there?[/quote']

Nothing major.. It just looks like they pulled some newscast tapes from 1-2 years ago and are just re-doing the newscast format that the evening newscasts were done at that time.

However, it seems like they're focusing away from the main stories and going more towards alot more "nonsense" stories/reports now.. Like Pam Zekman's recent investigative report on the Christmas tree at Daley plaza costing the city $300,000.. Come on, CBS 2. You used that tree for your newscast backdrop all Christmas season. Maybe you can pitch in some money. I just don't see the tough investigations/reports anymore.

Fill-in Meteorologist Rick DiMaio is being used ALOT more.. I have the feeling he's going to be a permanent part of the team sometime soon.

The newsroom is being used alot more too for reports. From a few different camera angles too.

I really don't think the studio set is going to be used the way it was meant to be anymore. I also have the feeling that set is going to get dismantled or changed sometime soon..

I don't know.. Honestly, I don't think CBS 2's ratings are going to increase. It's going to be the same old round of stuff and in another 5 or 6 years, it'll be a new set of management doing the same thing over again.

If you think a report like that is 'nonsense', you're either nuts or have a very big wallet! Pam Zekman's piece on how much money the tree costs was an eye-opener during a time where city departments are having to make tough cuts. Organizations all around the country are having to reevaluate their spending during this tough time.

In fact, I think they have been improving their newscasts altogether. Examples include Rob Johnson's recent report about the NIU shootings a year later, Dana Kozlov's report of a student who is in the same school as another student who sexually harassed him, Derrick Blakely's report regarding Senator Roland Burris, to name a few. I think others have noted some improvements too.

I agree with cbs2worksforyou, Jeff Kiernan has started to change the content formula. Some people might think it's fluff, but I think it's hard news. The examples above are one. I also noticed that the first segment of the news is now longer, lasting even 13 minutes, from the previous 7 or 8 minutes under Fowler. The newscast, especially the 10pm news, under my book is starting to improve and I think that the Doomsday is an exaggeration. Why would CBS authorize Cohen to search for a News Director and then whack the news operation. There are some things that can be changed, but I really like the direction CBS 2 is heading.
