qunewsguy 380 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Are they reallly crunching the HD graphics to fit in an SD frame? That bug looks awfully squished!
Weeters 1981 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Are they reallly crunching the HD graphics to fit in an SD frame? That bug looks awfully squished! Those aren't the HD graphics... Also, the time/temp bug should be put on a single line.
semistatic 0 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 you guys use a horrible cut of The NBC Collection (then again most of the new cuts are horrible) Same ones WPTV uses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm4SGke1CXI
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted April 10, 2009 Author Posted April 10, 2009 the gfx dont look as squashed on air...it has something to do with the HD compression/up conversion that give it the illusion they're crunched...this is the work of Tristan Bresnen, and I did all the audio portions and rendering for the on air look...our CSD did most of the hard work, he got all the templates made. I was just his assistant.
TSSZNews 1053 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 the gfx dont look as squashed on air...it has something to do with the HD compression/up conversion that give it the illusion they're crunched... What he said. =) -T
Hometown News 62 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 They would have looked better if the graphics department didn't decide to use Arial. Seriously, why?
lazynetjunkie 34 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Gold trim on the news set.. Really? That so screems mid-1980's to mid-1990's.
socalnewsguy 11 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 There's nothing wrong with Helvetica Neue. You just need the right style of it to make things look good.
Hometown News 62 Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Hmmm... maybe the compression is making the font look different. Never mind. I think the sub-headline and the time/temp bug are both totally unreadable, though.
