AnchorManNick 0 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Is anyone else headed there? Any advice for a college grad headed there?
alaskanews 159 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 It is gonna be hella gloomy this year. Sign up for the resume tape critique in advance, they bitched at me every year because I walked in without an appointment. You'll be interested in the career fair, along with everyone and their brother, bring your A game.

caliwxdude 257 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Is anyone else headed there? Any advice for a college grad headed there? Drink. Drink heavily.
alaskanews 159 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 If the sessions sound lame, chances are they will be terrible, like Rich said, enjoy Vegas
blueflag 0 Posted April 10, 2009 Posted April 10, 2009 Yes, drink heavily, especially when somebody else is buying. Bring a big fat stack of resumes, but don't worry about bringing a big fat stack of tapes. (Or maybe not. I'm showing my age here; I suppose it's easier for an ND to bring back a bunch of DVDs than a huge box of VHSs.) Love the job board -- that's where I got a few leads, including my first job! Play with the toys on the exhibit floor, make a bunch of new friends, and have fun! Good luck!
AnchorManNick 0 Posted April 12, 2009 Author Posted April 12, 2009 Thank you all for the advice! LOL. and MBHcity...What's do you do for a living?

mbhcity 3 Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Just curious. Have you been to this before? No, my first time. Like you and most attendees, I've got plenty of resumes and a cooler loaded with drinks ready.
AnchorManNick 0 Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 No, my first time. Like you and most attendees, I've got plenty of resumes and a cooler loaded with drinks ready. HAHA! A cooler loaded with drinks??? I wish I could do that, but I'm flying. We plan on taking it easy though...not too wild.

Say nick, it was actually nice meeting you there. I was the kid from California....you looked pretty sharp...wow...small world...but I think you have a chance. I did not know you went to Mizzou, I got accepted there, but it was too expensive. I bet you love working at KOMU...good job!

kjohnson 20 Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 I'd love to go, and know a couple of people graduating in a week that could stand to go. I would go, but the semester isn't over with. I'll probably go next year. Trying to decide if going to the NABJ conference is a go this year.

Being in school didn't stop me from going to NAB08... it's called a personal day. Take some time off and just do it. School's still going to be there when you get back.
