l14dap 1
KGMB has started using them frequently. Everyday on the 5PM newscast, business reporter Howard Dicus reports live via Skype from his house. You can clearly notice the diminished quality of the picture, but it seems to be well executed. http://kgmb9.com/main/content/view/16472/40/ I personally like it; it's a really inexpensive way to get information on the air (no need to haul a live truck out). Bucc 4
Well WRGB -CBS6 in albany, NY used them when March Madness was going on; they sent one of their reporters down there... I didn't like how it doesnt take up the whole screen...and it sometimes froze...so all in all, on Live TV...I don't like them, but on the web or like on Oprah uses them, and it seems to work then (from what little bit I've seen). I think the technology will improve though Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5309-skype-liveshots/#findComment-49604 Share on other sites
KRAP-TV 146
WSB in Atlanta used Skype on a bus ride with a local high school band traveling to the Inauguration in DC. The quality of the live report was terrible. The video was broken and the audio was even worse (the kids were yelling in the background and you couldn't make out what the reporter was saying). I was shocked to see WSB stick with the report for as long as they did because it was so unintelligible. Mrtraveler01 738
One of my colleagues works at KSDK and she's said that they're using it. I don't know about KMOV, or KTVI/KPLR. KSHB and KCTV have been using them for coverage during severe weather.
