NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 When I got home tonight I turned on NBC 5 and saw that they were in HD stretched on my SD TV. Anyone else notice have this? I also played the 4:30-6pm Newscasts from my DVR and they were also in HD stretched. Is this a fluke or something or is WMAQ going to be doing now on the SD feed?
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 it's stretched with black boxes on the top and the bottom.
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 i guess its not stretched. I don't know. I see the whole HD feed on my SD TV. Just wondering if anyone else here is seeing the same thing. Seems the 4:30, 5, 6, and 10 PM newscasts were all this way. The morning ones where regular.
Weeters 1981 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Ah OK, that would be called "letterboxing". Someone probably pushed a wrong button sometime today.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 It's not really that simple to hit a wrong button...they may be doing it intentionally.
NBC 5 Chicago 196 Posted May 5, 2009 Author Posted May 5, 2009 That's what I am thinking. For ALL evening newscast to be done this way? It stops at Nightly News and every commercial break is in SD. Just them on the air is all in the "letterboxed" HD. It's nice I'm not complaining! Just interesting to see that. Was wondering if anyone else saw/noticed it too.
