Wow, look like KSDK has overthrown KMOV for the newscasts ratings and the gap is getting bigger. Do you think it has something to do with KMOV taking a more sensationalist angle to its newscasts. Doesn't look like that plays well in St. Louis.

KSDK's late numbers seem far-fetched considering the abysmal NBC schedule. While I do think KMOV's overly sensationalistic style is playing a role, I don't think KSDK magically doubles it audience at 10pm.

If KMOV is so bad, shouldn't KTVI be picking up the slack? KTVI has been very competitive across the board, especially with KDNL completely out of the game...

Good point, KTVI is basically flat overall in the ratings so they aren't making that much of a dent in KMOV. Meanwhile KSDK is practically making no changes and booming in viewship. It is odd.

St. Louis is kind of a weird market. They have always delayed the Price is Right, airing it at 11am CT instead of 10am, like the rest of the Central Time Zone. I can't believe KDNL still has that ABC affiliation. KPLR would look great with ABC, but a lot of cable viewers might lose their CW.

Thank you Chris.

There is nowhere else for that ABC affiliation to go. With Sinclair's incompetence, there's not enough money being generated for news. For that matter, the same is true at KMOV and KSDK.

Although I suspect KSDK is losing a lot a money because the GM thinks she's Emily Barr and it's WLS.

KSDK, like the Post Dispatch, has significantly deteriorated to almost becoming unwatchable in the past year. Do they need to repurpose every story over 8 newscasts in 3 days. Where is the news? Sports reporting is horrendous, and its not even objective. Rah Rah. STL is the center of the world, who cares what goes on elsewhere. Poor journalism. Let's be critical, the local teams deserve it. They all do.

Worse thing is, they are the better station. ughhhhhhhhhhhh. I wish I could get clearance to watch NY or LA on my sattelite instead. Whats also bad is the Gannett mandated furloughs, you never know who is on or off anymore. And those Pyburns Gannett moved to, a poor poor version of what WNBC had. And then they don't stick with them and use the previous version for special reports, etc. What a mess. The morning show needs a do over. The anchors don't talk to the viewer as humans, they talk in a boring robotic cadence. Nothing excites them. No emotion. Very slowly paced. And the weather guy sucks at doing traffic. Bring back or outsource with Metro like the rest of the country does.

It's too bad Tribune made the Local TV deal. No way would they become a major network affiliate now. KSDK is an embarrassment. You have to wonder if this is market 120, not 21. Small townish. What a shame.

Although I agree that KSDK has grown a little stale lately, I think you're criticism might be a tad too harsh on them. If you travel to markets that are roughly the same size, Orlando, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh, you'd see that their stations are roughly the same as they are here in St. Louis.

And as far as wanting to watch the news from LA...why? No offense to our LA folks on here but it seems like that there isn't a station there that doesn't take a sensationalist approach to the news, maybe the spanish ones don't but no hablo espanol. It seems like the only thing people learn from watching the news there is what neighborhoods to avoid and what the celebrities are up to lately. Although the more I think about it, the news here is St. Louis, minus KSDK is getting a tad sensationalistic for my tastes (KTVI and KMOV), but it seems like it's much worse in LA.
