newswatch 1
On Comedy Central's weekly animated cussfest South Park, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have used Denver TV Stations in their episodes. But a shift in stations have changed during the past season. In the first 10 to 13 seasons, the show have always used KCNC CBS-4 in their episodes. Their South Park-ized anchors look like Bill Stuart (now retired) and Greg Moody (entertainment reporter). In the election year, Ron Zappollo was featured on South Park. One episode is where Stan Marsh said, "That's Ron Zappollo from Channel 4 News," and now-former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler made an appearance. Another episode is where they showed KDVR FOX-31 and its anchor Zappollo, and it was pertaining to Britney Spears. Now since last season, South Park has used KUSA NBC-9. The station bug on the screen resembles its current logo (used since 1984 after the call letters went from KBTV to KUSA). However, the blue circle has the "9," and the two red and one white stripes has the word "NEWS." This question remains, how did Trey Parker and Matt Stone decide to go from KCNC to KUSA, and how did they use KDVR as a filler? jestbiteme 13
I find it interesting. But being INTERESTING doesn't make it NOTABLE. Can anyone refute this and argue that, yes, cartoon anchors and meteorologists and reporters and such are notable as a class? Ntropolis 596
Nothing here separates them from hundreds of other hard-working, yet not notable cartoon anchors and meteorologists on television in the rest of the US. fl19ga114sc105 3
South Park since it has started back in 1997 has always used real places and things in Colorado as references in the show. The creators probably grew up watching channel's 4 and 9, so they just put in the show what they remember seeing. Ron Zappollo has worked in that market for years so that is most likely why he was used. As for Family Guy, Quahog 5 could possibly be a parody of WCVB in Boston since that show has made references to the Griffin family visiting and being fans of Boston sports teams.
