WXmanTim 88 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 Well, that's two minutes of my life I won't get ever get back. Almost as bad, but no quite, is the midday "Ag Report" anchor on our competition (actually the midday news is a state-wide broadcast on the Evening Post Publishing Co. cluster). The. girl. quite. obvious. took. diction. because. she. ennunciates. every. word. that. comes. out. of. her. mouth.
DMA 135 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 It's obviously bad quality, but it's Glendive...what happens there?
WXmanTim 88 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 It's obviously bad quality, but it's Glendive...what happens there? In a town of 4000...not much.
PTVNews 196 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 The anchor, Emily Boyles, was involved in a scandal a few years ago where I live. http://www.katu.com/v/?i=4539876 Here are more stories on her: http://search.katu.com/default.aspx?ct=r&q=emily+boyles
Weeters 1969 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 The open slide looks like Ava Nieves designed it. Still better than some of the internet newscasts, though.
ElliotJones 52 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 This is amazing. I've always wanted to see this. EDIT: Emily Boyyyylllles.
swillh2k2 205 Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 This makes WSVI look like WLS in comparison. Wow.
ProButtonPusher 230 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 I may be wrong, but it looks as though she's sitting in front of vertical blinds. And judging by the scan lines and the distortion at the bottom - It was probably recorded on VHS. not to mention they're all on-cam/rdrs
kjohnson 17 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 We actually have two VHS camera's in studio. Stop using them. Video quality is horrendous. I'm not Cronkite, but I'm certain I've done better updates. Epic Fail. And more fail on Emily Boyle's credibility.
newsie 11 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 This is beyond shitty. Like Chris, I expected it to be bad for Glendive, but I'm speechless. We need a re-emergence of the Glendive thread. LOL
mre29 1563 Posted June 26, 2009 Posted June 26, 2009 Simply stunning. What the heck was she doing with her hand? At first I thought the video was several years old, but I picked up enough context during the few minutes I managed to watch to realize that it's actually pretty recent. Almost as bad, but no quite, is the midday "Ag Report" anchor on our competition (actually the midday news is a state-wide broadcast on the Evening Post Publishing Co. cluster). The. girl. quite. obvious. took. diction. because. she. ennunciates. every. word. that. comes. out. of. her. mouth. Isn't that cluster the "Montana Television Network"? KXGN probably makes those stations look good.

mre29 1563 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 I'd be careful if I were you. It's not like I have any idea what their newscasts are like.
WXmanTim 88 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Simply stunning. What the heck was she doing with her hand? At first I thought the video was several years old, but I picked up enough context during the few minutes I managed to watch to realize that it's actually pretty recent. Isn't that cluster the "Montana Television Network"? KXGN probably makes those stations look good. KXGN only carries "Montana's Morning News" from the MTN, which is produced out of Billings. They may submit a story or two to MTN, but I doubt it (based on the video posted). They are not owned by the cluster, however. MTN is the network of CBS affiliates in Montana owned (with the exception of KXGN) by Cordillera/Evening Post Publishing (which also owns WLEX-Lexington, KY among others). The Montana cluster is KRTV-Great Falls, KXLH-Helena (an LP satellite of KR), KTVQ-Billings, KBZK-Bozeman, KXLF-Butte, KPAX-Missoula and K18AJ-Kalispell (an LP satellite of KPAX). All are branded under the "Montana's News Station" brand and have the same graphics, music, and nearly identical sets. Their look is...ok...sort of a mash-up of the Liberty graphics package and the graphics WSMV-Nashville used during the "Seize The Day" music era. Music is 615's "Impact." KR's over-all presentation is quite lacking. Very plodding and slow and I don't think they are quite staffed to the levels we are, and we're a small operation. They benefit being #1 because KFBB didn't really put up much of a fight until lately (KTGF, the indy station and former NBC affiliate and KBGF, the LP satellite of "Beartooth NBC" in Helena were/are both non-factors).
Dude From VA 0 Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 This is what KPAX (from Missoula) looks like. Essentially all the MTN stations look the same. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmdCM2UladU I am not sure how to imbed YouTube video, so the link is above.
Evening Magazine 18 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 Well, it's better than the KXGN clip. Oh yes, KXGN is a sorry excuse for news. They need some kind of graphics, but then, they probably don't even have a switcher. What happens if there is breaking news?
