Anna Davlantes is in delicate contract talks with NBC-owned WMAQ-Channel 5. A Channel 5 spokeswoman first confirmed Davlantes' exit, but then shortly after called to say contract talks with the weekend newscast co-anchor were ongoing.

 

Davlantes was offered a contract renewal, the Channel 5 spokeswoman said.

 

Davlantes could not be immediately reached for comment.

 

She has been at WMAQ since 2000. She started out as a general assignment reporter, but was subsequently elevated to a weekend co-anchor job. She also filled in as a co-anchor weekdays on occasion.

Another dumb move by Channel 5. So many fellas watched because of her. Rob Stafford and Anna made a real nice, classy team. First Bob Sirott, now this... they shoulda dumped Allison Rosati instead and kept 2 for the price of 1.

At this time in this business for an on-air anchor and/or reporter, you'd be an almost complete idiot to leave your job unless you have something already lined up for you..

 

 

My guess is she's got something waiting for her at another station.. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if it is WBBM.. They do have that anchor/reporter opening..
