Dude From VA 0
Surprised this hasn't been covered already. KXGN back at the beginning of September dropped the one hour of NBC primetime programming they carried and replaced it with syndicated "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and replaced "Days of our Lives" with "America's Funniest Home Videos". KXGN was the last big 3 network station to carry two big 3 networks on the same station and not on digital subchannels. Kind of the end of an era. As of this writing, KXGN is CBS only and shows no signs of picking up programming from another network. NewsProducer 0
Aren't they the only game in town? Seems like they could put the other nets on the subchannels, if they have that capability. I don't know too much about the operation... I'm sure it's low budget. WXmanTim 88
It's beyond low-budget. 2-county DMA with approximately 4000 total homes. I'm really quite surprised they could afford the transition to digital and didn't simply go off the air. Why CBS bothers to maintain a relationship with them, especially since its on the fringe of the KTVQ-Billings market, I have no idea. NewsProducer 0
2 counties? Yeah, that's insane. We could get by with 209 DMA's, I think. Ditch Glendive and add Fort Collins-Greeley-Cheyenne. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5821-kxgn-drops-nbc/#findComment-54516 Share on other sites

Well, seeing as how KXGN is affiliated with the all-CBS Montana Television Network, CBS probably figures Glendive Broadcasting will eventually sell the station to MTN's owner to become a repeater/satellite for KTVQ (the only obvious future for the station, I'd think) and that it would be less of a hassle to just wait it out.
