NYNews 54
Does Tribune still own WPIX? I notice that at the end of the newscasts they don't have the traditional Tribune logo sign off, now they just have something along the lines of "copyright 2009 WPIX Television" Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5890-wpix-and-tribune/ Share on other sites
Weeters 1916
That's probably just the legal operating name listed on the license... Similar to how Weigel's stations are all owned by limited partnership companies ("WDJT-TV Limited Partnership", "Channel 41/63 Limited Partnership", and "TV-49, Inc" are the license owners of WDJT, WMLW/WYTU, and WBME, for example) which are owned by Weigel. DMA 135
I've noticed that too. I understand Steve's point, but aren't all tribune stations required to have the logo close? TrfRptr 3
I'd think if Tribune sold WPIX, you'd hear about it. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5890-wpix-and-tribune/#findComment-55045 Share on other sites
A3N 1002
KSWB has "©KSWB Inc. Production." They did have Tribune Co. for the first few days when they re-started their news operations but then changed it. I always found it kind of interesting that KSWB really never emphasized that they were a part of the Tribune Company, even during the CW days. mbhcity 3
Yeah they do, but Tribune Stations generally operate under different copyrights, not the companys. for example KTLA uses KTLA Inc., ditto for PIX. kjohnson 17
KPLR, even though their newscasts are produced by KTVI (Community Television of St. Louis, LLC), use the HD "Tribune" close. In short, KPLR still identifies as a Tribune station. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5890-wpix-and-tribune/#findComment-55049 Share on other sites
IceManNYR 240
At the close tonight they used the Tribune Broadcasting logo with the ©WPIX below. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/5890-wpix-and-tribune/#findComment-55070 Share on other sites
fan of la tv 47
KTLA also dropped the Tribune Broadcasting identification at the end of their newscasts months ago. NYNews 54
Here's a little info. http://www.televisionbroadcast.com/article/89188 The info in the article seems to suggest these changes are just occurring, but these changes have been in place for a while now. Are they referring to something new or is the writer just seeing the "new" changes for the first time. The article said: "a time-and-temp icon that changes with the seasons". By seasons, do they mean day and night, as in how the PIX logo has sun rays in the morning?
