FOX Chicago has a new logo once again..

They just can't seem to leave their logo alone for their newscasts.. It was only a few months ago they dumped the ugly "FOX News Chicago" logo for a simpler and nicer plain "FOX Chicago" logo similar to the one they've used for years in the past on their newscasts.

 

The past couple weeks, they've introduced a new "FOX Chicago News" logo with the word "News" on an extra blue bar underneath the word "Chicago" on their news promos and some graphics on the newscasts. The new logo isn't as ugly as the old 2006-09 "FOX News Chicago"; however, I personally like the plain "FOX Chicago" logo better which isn't completely gone from the newscasts (yet, at least).

 

They just got brand new mic flags once again with the new logo which made their debut tonight. They only got their previous mic flags a few months ago and they were still in new pristine condition.. This was really an unnecessary change.

Not liking the change either. The main problem remains their overall graphics package. It looks cheap and unappealing. So when they decide to make stupid changes like this, you can be sure the end result will be bad. They seem to be taking a page from WBBM. Wasting time on things that don't matter rather than dealing with things that do.

Well, I guess that came along with Fowler jumping over from WBBM..

 

 

The overall graphics package itself is really not bad IF used correctly and kept the way it's supposed to look like.. The problem is when a few certain people in-house start playing around with and "tweaking" it.. The graphics in their original form works and fits. But just for the sake of playing around and tweaking, there are a few at the station that like to "fix" them up little by little each week and it ruins the look. You can see a big difference between what is actually part of the package and what is in-house.. In-house work is really noticeable in the promos. Kinda really cheap clunky looking which goes along with the cheap library music they've been using for 9PM news promos the past couple years.. Why don't they just stick with the news music package for promos?

 

 

Although I'll give WFLD's meteorologists credit.. What they did with the weather graphics are really nice.
