Attorney and former TV reporter Marcy Planer-Murray, who contributed to WWL's award-winning investigation of the New Orleans Affordable Homeownership program, will assist Perlstein as researcher for the unit, which will draw on the station's full reporting, photography and production staff, said Chris Slaughter, news director. "I think this is a little different move from the way it's been done," Slaughter said. "We think this is going to concentrate our resources and result in a better-quality product." Perlstein, who worked at the Times-Picayune for more than 20 years before departing in 2006 to become a visiting associate professor of mass communications at Loyola University, will also write stories for http://www.WWLTV.com and "quite likely" appear on camera, Slaughter added. WWL also announced Tuesday that Katie Moore will be the station's solo weekend anchor. A New Orleans native, Moore joined the station as a reporter in 2006. alaskanews 113
Sounds like a good move. The fact that WWL is still investing in investigative reporting is very nice to see. newsguy22 59
Glad to hear this. As a WWL alum, makes me proud. Interesting to see the competition between them and WVUE, though. It's really heating up.
