rhombics447 1 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 You've heard right - hell has frozen over. Cleveland's Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WEWS rolled out a new look for their website, NewsNet5.com, today, replacing their old design which had been in use for a good part of the 2000s, and was often criticized for showing its age.
ThatSowislander 52 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 won't be surprised if more hell freezes over in that market soon - especially at woio.
TennTV1983 807 Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 This may actually be a better design than the Inergize Digital ones the rest of the Scripps stations use. Looks naked, but it's doable. [st]Now if they can learn to encode their videos into Flash, then they'd be in business.[/st] EDIT: After taking a second look, it appears WEWS is using Fox Interactive for their website now (or something along that line).

I'll take naked over the POS that was the old site. That said, I can't help but wonder if Internet Broadcasting got tired of having that reminder of their past hanging around and issued WEWS an ultimatum to either pay for a redesign or find a new host. EDIT: After taking a second look, it appears WEWS is using Fox Interactive for their website now (or something along that line). Where do you see that? It looks more like the base design used by most of their newspaper sites [example].

Click on any story that has a video attached to it. The video players are similar. Based on the example you showed me, this might not be a Fox Interactive site, but rather Scripps is now doing their own station websites in-house.

mre29 1563 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Thank God. It's about time... No kidding. Even Channel4000.com has been redesigned at least once in the past several years.
NewsJunkie247 1 Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 The new website is pretty nice, and MUCH better than the old design that looked like it was from 2001.
skbl17 188 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 WEWS's old web design freaked me out. It's nice to see them catching up to today.
geoffbruno 0 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 I really enjoy the new look and the overall refresh of the Scripps Group websites, they look more professional, and while they can't compare to O&O websites, they look less like the awful stuff other local stations put out.
