With the cancellation of World Focus, I wonder what the plans for the Lincoln Center street side studio is? All signs have been pulled from the outside of the building, including images of the new set and the WNET and WLIW logos. The only thing that remains is the "TH" from the word "THIRTEEN". With that said, it could just be the interior is near completion and the location will be still be used for "Need to Know".

WNET.org, the New York public broadcaster, is canceling “Worldfocus,” its weeknight newscast seen on public television stations, effective April 2. It will have been on the air for 18 months. The show won several awards for its international news coverage but began without all its financing in place and never attracted enough corporate and foundation support to be sustainable. Neal Shapiro, the president and chief executive of WNET.org, acknowledged a shortfall of “a few million dollars” in a statement Friday announcing that “Worldfocus” was being shut down, adding, “We had the misfortune of launching a brand new program into the teeth of the recession.” “Worldfocus” was anchored first by Martin Savidge and now by Daljit Dhaliwal. It was an important project for Mr. Shapiro, who was criticized by some internal critics who said he had diverted resources to support it, leading to extensive layoffs elsewhere at WNET. Mr. Shapiro denied any link. WNET.org said that some “Worldfocus” resources would go to the WNET-produced “Need to Know,” a new program that joins PBS’s Friday night public-affairs lineup in May.

The street-side studio (a 1/4 block away from the WABC-TV studios) opened today but will be seen on-air on Friday May 7th with a new show called "Need to Know" on WNET They will also remain at their old studios due to the small size of new studio (was originally supposed to be a retail store, only 2,500 square feet per floor.)

Took some pictures of the new studio last week with my cell phone (outside the 66 St - Lincoln Center station), planning to go back there next week. They were working on the set and the waiting room is very small.
