LiveNewsCameras.com Officially Dead

It seems that LiveNewsCameras.com is officially dead. I was wondering when the plug was going to pulled (or just fall out on its own).. It was still up and running a couple weeks ago; however, it was abandoned. WFLD's web team pretty much abandoned the website in late 2008. The chatroom was still up a couple weeks ago too and the regular chatters from the beginning were still using the chatbox eventhough over half the video links weren't working anymore.

The idea/concept was good; however, the site never grew to what was hoped for. Almost everyone invovled in starting up and maintaining the website either left the station or was laid off. The only moderator still at the station is traffic reporter Sondra Solarte. Even management there is completely different now and I doubt current management knows anything about the website. Plus, I don't think anyone still at the station has any of the passwords or access IDs to get into any of the website elements..

I remember moderator Athenia Veliz from LA. wow. It's weird to think that people "moderated" on the website for a job. But it was interesting while it lasted. Thinking back to when the site was running gives me this interesting feeling....I don't know how to describe it. lol.

I think it quit being relevant when they pulled the moderator feature. I always thought that was interesting. When they pulled the live moderators, it just became a site that had links to livestreams.....

The real issue was when the local Fox websites upgraded to the new MyFox layout which used a different media player from Windows Media Player, it became useless to me after that. It was a great concept though.

That would be something that would have been easily fixed, but like Lazy said, the staff just wasn't there to do it.
