lazynetjunkie 34 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Anyone catching FOX Chicago News at 9 tonight? Since it's a female duo, it appears Robin Robinson took the "male" role tonight with her wardrobe.. She's wearing a jacket and tie. I haven't seen her wear anything like this before. I just think it's funny.
brb588 113 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I tuned in as soon as I saw this. Not gonna lie, it looks kinda ugly. BTW, Anna just said that she was back. Did something happen to Robin?
lazynetjunkie 34 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Posted June 1, 2010 I attached a photo of the fashion disaster for those of you that didn't see this..
l14dap 1 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Fashion disaster is an understatement. It looks SO bad that you have to wonder if it's some sort of inside joke or gag.
Weeters 1969 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. Is WFLD going for the emo band members demographic now?
KRAP-TV 146 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 W. T. F. ? I'd love to hear SuitSnob's take on this abomination...
Jess 1116 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 And I thought anchoring in the field polo shirt was bad. That attire is simply unprofessional. There is no defensible way that WFLD management should have let her appear on the newscast like that. Period.

There is no defensible way that WFLD management should have let her appear on the newscast like that. Period. It was Memorial Day so management had the day off.. However, it wouldn't surprise me if that "suit" was ND Carol Fowler's idea. Fowler is the type that has say in anchors' wardrobe and hair styles, but it's usually having the female anchors look more like Diann Burns. Fowler herself has been going a little on the wild side in her own wardrobe so who knows..

I understand that a polo shirt would be inappropriate under many circumstances, but I wouldn't want to be wearing a suit when covering something such as a mudslide.

I think it's just more dependent on the location your market. I know in markets down south like in Florida or out west in California where the weather is alot more hot, polos are a much more accepted form as proper reporting attire for most types of stories. Here in Chicago/the midwest, polos are usually only allowed for "fun" stories or events (fundraisers, parades, festivals, etc.) or summer sport reporting. For anything else, a button down shirt is minimum requirement. However, I think what Hulkie was getting at was a polo shirt being worn at the anchor desk which I believe is a big no no. To me, a polo at the anchor desk screams amateur. Even if it's just a short news desk update or something of that sort, I don't expect to see a jacket or even a tie on but a nice button shirt would be bare minimum.
