C Block 1566
So, remember all those localized CW logos that first appeared when the network launched in 2006? Here's KWGN's version: Now, per Tribune's guidance, KWGN dropped this logo in 2008 for an in-house created logo, but recent CW network promos on KWGN are using the CW2 logo, while the voiceover still says "Tonight on KWGN". My question is, is this normal for the CW network promos, or does this signify that KWGN is adopting yet another new logo? Weeters 1916
It's because it's on CW network promos. Of course they'll use the CW logo on it. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6768-cw-logos/#findComment-61438 Share on other sites
C Block 1566
But this is different. In the last two years, KWGN has used their own logo and sometimes even a different slate in the CW network promos. Here's their 'current' logo: My question is, do all CW network promos now use the localized version of the CW logo (the one in my original post), or does this mean that KWGN is adopting the localized CW logo again? Ntropolis 596
Since WTKR bought WGNT, they seem to be emphasizing the call letters rather than "CW27." Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6768-cw-logos/#findComment-61450 Share on other sites
kjohnson 17
I've watched KPLR go from being CW11, to KPLR11, to KPLR, the CW. Graphically since earlier in the year the CW logo, which has been absent on program promo slides has made a return, first after KPLR11, and now, in front of KPLR11. However, it's unlikely KPLR is going back to CW11, though. It' seems they take their cues from their sister station in NY, PIX11. C Block 1566
I think this may actually be KWGN's new logo. A few weeks before they unloaded the Deuce, the logo began appearing in some CW network promos. My contact is on vacation, so he/she doesn't know if this is the new logo or not, but I'm starting to think it may be. Damn. I was hoping they would do something creative, such as bringing back a vintage logo, like what KTLA did. At least it's better than the Deuce... SterlingNorth 33
WDCW has been doing this shortly after they originally rebranded themselves as DC50... the logo on the website and the station bug had always featured the CW logo in it, though promos will switch between having and not having it. (Locally produced shows typically don't. Network promos typically do. Promos for syndicated shows are a mix between the two.) jero23 105
In the NYC area' date=' which includes Connecticut, WPIX's bug morphs into a CW logo from "PIX(11)."[/quote'] Yeah, I saw that on a satellite feed of WPIX from last week. It's interesting considering WPIX is "the flagship of the CW television network" according to the "about us" section of wpix.com. I figured WPSG "The CW, Philly 57" was the "flagship station" of the CW since it is actually the largest network owned & operated affiliate.
