It is OFFICAL.

Well I never would have imagined in my lifetime that I would see WTOC CBS 11 in Savannah, GA go High Definition. The station who is infamous for its long-running news team, minimal changes, and unprecedented news coverage is taking things into the 21st Century

On that page in the link below, there are videos (like the one in the link above) and photos of them dismantling the set. They are currently broadcasting newscasts from the newsroom while a new HD set is being built. The page hasn't been updated since September 17th, so the upgrade could be complete very soon.

Thoughts? I can't even imagine Pat Prokop in HD.

Very cool! I've vacationed in this area every year for about ten years so I'm pretty familiar with WTOC. I wouldn't have guessed this was going to happen anytime soon but this pretty exciting for them. Hope they get some cool graphics.

WTOC is now HD :). (From their website: http://www.wtoc.com/global/category.asp?c=153752&clipId=5191891&topVideoCatNo=133433&autoStart=true - Find the "Afternoon Update/Oct. 13" video)

No, they did not get the standard Raycom graphics, they got KOLD's HD graphics.

It's a new standardized look being slowly applied across board. Several Raycom stations have started using this look in their weather graphics.

At least it's an improvement from the the crappy "chrome" look originally applied at its other stations.

EDIT: KSLA-TV in Shreveport, LA has the new look as well (no HD news yet?).

WBTV started using them about a month or two ago...so the full Raycom package should be right around the corner (maybe in time for November sweeps). This new package is leaps and bounds better than the "chrome" look though.

Yeah, WBRC started using them around the same time. Which makes me wonder if WBRC is now considered the second flagship rather than WSFA these days...
