WNYW's Charles Leaf Arrested

In these cases, I do believe the person is innocent until proven guilty. Unless it is something like he lured a child into a car and drove off into the woods or something blatant like that. But frequently in these cases (especially when the child is that young and can be manipulated) the kid can be impressionable and made to make a general claim (this happens a lot in divorce/ child custody proceedings). Until some verifiable evidence appears, I say reserve judgment....it is just easy to throw an accusation of sexual harassment or molestation at people to make them an instant pariah. If he is truly guilty however-throw the book at him!

OK...I just crossed from Innocent Until Proven Guilty to Most Likely Guilty.

The problem is, so many people use this kind of thing a a weapon that it is becoming a Boy Who Cried Wolf scenario. Remember when Charles Perez got accused two years ago by his ex BF and everyone wanted to railroad him, and then when the facts came out it became clear the guy was only after money and vengeance?

Former WNYW reporter Charles Leaf, now a 44 year old father of two, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl and of possessing child pornography on his home computer in Wyckoff, NJ.

A jury in Hackensack, NJ. convicted him on all charges: aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, child endangerment, possession of child pornography and tampering with evidence. The most serious charge of aggravated sexual assault — in a word: rape — carries up to 20 years in prison, followed by lifelong parole as a Megan’s Law offender.

Superior Court Judge James J. Guida :smash: revoked Leaf’s bail over the protests of defense attorney Brian Neary :bang: , and set sentencing for June 6, 2014. Bergen County Sheriff’s officers then handcuffed Leaf and took him to the Bergen County Jail.

Leaf's parting words to his wife? “Tell the kids I love them!" :ack:
