Strong chance of less weather coverage on The Weather Channel

Looks like a new revamp is coming to TWC, y'all...

From the Hollywood Reporter:

"NBC Uni posted a video interview with Peacock Productions executive Sharon Scott about the company's intentions for the network, which include reducing the amount of live weather coverage. Scott points out we have iPads now, so this whole covering weather on TV is just getting silly (try telling that to NBC's local news stations).

Instead, live weather news will increasingly get folded down to a scroll during weather-themed reality programming. She compares the move to CNN and MSNBC, but it's also similar to how TV Guide Channel tackled their branding vs. growth problem."

Uh, Ms. Scott, not everyone has (*censored*) iPads! Thoughts?

Plan:

1. Fire a bunch of people, including all the OCMs except Jim Cantore, Mike Seidel, Mike Bettes, and Stephanie Abrams

2. Move a few meteos to 30 Rock for 'ol times' sake and sell Atlanta

3. ????

4. PROFIT!

From the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang Blog: TWC says live weather coverage still comes first.

"The Weather Channel has stepped back from comments made by an NBC productions executive, which we reported on earlier this week, that indicated that the venerable weather network is moving away from its traditional live weather coverage in order to mix in more long-form programming, including a reality show about a landscape photographer."
