Weeters 1916
What was the director thinking?! You're waiting for something that could happen at any moment then you take another camera full screen? Should've been in a double box! ProButtonPusher 230
I blame the producer. Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6939-wgn-morning-news-mishap-goes-viral/#findComment-62881 Share on other sites
lazynetjunkie 34
Not a biggie.. We implode so many damn bridges around here that it shouldn't be more than a couple months until another one goes down. It's probably better off this happened. This kind of mishap/fun stuff is more enjoyable to watch (and is more fitting for the kind of morning show WGN Morning News is) than if they just went through with showing the bridge implosion as meant to be. ED2 144
I love Robin's reaction. All their reactions made up for missing the bridge implosion. Jess 1115
Were the sound effects and music part of the original broadcast? It makes it sound like a real bad radio morning show, and I really don't want that in my newscasts. ctmajka 112
Yeah those are part of the show. WGNs morning news is ridiculous on purpose. Really loose. Nothing like any of the other newscasts in Chicago, it's somewhat of a relief from the other rigidly-structured morning newscasts, especially from such a respected local news source. news2chicago 0
If memory serves me correct, the "losing horns" sound effect was originally from The Bozo Show, around the mid-80s, after Bob Bell retired. It's a fitting tribute to the show WGN Morning News replaced. lazynetjunkie 34
Something tells me they did it on purpose just so it would go viral. Very good possibility.. It's a popular sweeps tactic nowadays. The one I can still think of is that one a few months ago with the anchor in his underwear in the closing shot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65dByGUemCk). Many ND's now "coach" their newsrooms to do some "blooper/comedic material" every now and then. It does work. It draws attention to the station. ED2 144
And now WGN has made a promo out of it... (if it's actually a promo that's running, that's awesome) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/6939-wgn-morning-news-mishap-goes-viral/#findComment-62976 Share on other sites
