FirstNews8 13 Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 WNDS was pretty cool. Before it became myTV. I like the myTV idea, but even though, I'm from Boston, I always like hearing WNDS. Except they never said it as Winds but W-N-D-S. But who thinks they are creative call signs too? Like WCVB... for Channel V Boston. Also, WAKA is the noise Pac-Man makes. WAKA is the name of a sports announcer from a local radio station, he was also my 8th Grade Social Studies teacher.... Charlie Waca....lol....
Gatorman 0 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 KOLD-TV in Tucson, AZ ...and Tucson is usually warm, not cold. KOLD was originally a sister station of KOOL (now KSAZ) in Phoenix, and both stations were then owned by Gene Autry. Just as clever.
NashvilleTV5 0 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 KOIN-TV Portland, OR KOIN sounds like COIN. yeah....and you think that is rediculous? I think that was the point...although, in my opinion, KOIN doesn't sound too bad. Unlike other call letters.
ib-td 1 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 I thought it would be funny to have a TV station in Rapid City, SD and change the call sign to KRAP. WTSP in St. Petersburg, FL should change their call letters to that one.
WAVY 10 Fan 233 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 KGO in San Fran. Where are they supposed to be GOing?

Gulf_Broadcasting 0 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 it's a low-powered Infomercials station, but there actually is a KSEX here in Dallas. The station is KSEX 57. However, i have never heard any v/o use the call letters.

KKyuubi 0 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I'm sorta amused by WOFL, sorta sounds like ROFL, maybe Fox 35 should rename their helicopter to "WOFLCOPTER", soisoisoisoisoisoisoisoisoisoisoisoisoisoi
Wisco TV Watcher 11 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I believe that there was a WGAY-AM in Washington D.C. at one point. According to Radio-Locator, there is a WDIC-AM & WDIC-FM in Clinchco, VA.
who?cares 255 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 WEAR, cracks me up, but they say it W-E-A-R, and WALA, but they never refer to their calls. I actually like WALA (FOX 10), they're a very good organization.

Yes, but it apperas you don't get it. KSEX on channel 69 would be a perfect match.
Trip in VA 0 Posted June 4, 2007 Posted June 4, 2007 I believe that there was a WGAY-AM in Washington D.C. at one point. 1260AM. There was also a WGAY-FM on 99.5 in Washington. It then became WJMO ("Jammin' 99.5") and is now WIHT ("Hot 99.5"). - Trip
