Local news tidbits: Boise; Toledo; Honolulu; NJ/DE VHFs

Some interesting things I found this week...

A TV tower in the heart of downtown Honolulu is coming down. Its last occupants were KGMB and KHON; KGMB moved when it became part of the "Hawaii News Now" service.

A look at Boise. There, KTVB still dominates the news ratings, but KTRV (Fox) has launched its own 10pm newscast (!) and became the first in 720p HD there last month. KIVI (ABC) is going widescreen on the 23rd (like the other Big 3 stations). Oddly enough it is mentioned that KIVI's weekend weather does not originate from Boise (perhaps it's at Milwaukee or Omaha?).

In Toledo, WTOL is back on top after pulling second for two sweeps periods to WTVG – the first time in its history that it wasn't in first place.

Here's a look at the applicants for the VHFs in Delaware and New Jersey. Not many recognizable names, except for PMCM (the company that wanted to move two of its stations there anyways) and the good folks at Daystar.
