Buried in Richard Huff's Friday column was the news that FOX has not renewed Cora Ann Mihalik's contract and the anchor has left Ch. 9, ending a 25 year run on WNYW and WWOR.

Loved watching Mihalik on 5 and later on its eventual sister 9. Fox messes up yet again.

I agree with you, anchorman, she should be back in this market, and she hopefully will.

We said the same thing about Roz Abrams, IIRC....

And Roz burned a lot of freaking bridges. Cora Ann has been the ever steadfast loyal soldier just like Brenda and Rosanna on that sinking ship named WWOR and WNYW.

I actually won't be shocked to see the FCC pull Fox Ownership away of WWOR and make it a true New Jersey Station again.

Roz pissed off WABC and WCBS execs, AND had years left on her contract after she left 2.

Different situation. Different personalities.

Returning to Cora, re anchorman's first suggestion...PIX 11 may make some sense, given that a few other past 5/9 correspondents (e.g., Mike Sheehan, Jennifer Jordan) have wound up there. At 11, she can be one of the primary subs, or even a likely weekend co-anchor for Jim Watkins, to go along with field assignments.

Channel 7 would also be a possible landing spot for Cora...a likely anchor slot for the new 4p 'cast?

Except that WABC doesn't hire "cast offs" from the other NY market stations - all their talent is either homegrown or imported from other markets.
