wabceyewitness 827 Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Buried in Richard Huff's Friday column was the news that FOX has not renewed Cora Ann Mihalik's contract and the anchor has left Ch. 9, ending a 25 year run on WNYW and WWOR.
anchorman 96 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Wow. She'll certainly be scooped up by someone, whether it be in this market or not. Maybe PIX?
AceHawk447 17 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Loved watching Mihalik on 5 and later on its eventual sister 9. Fox messes up yet again. I agree with you, anchorman, she should be back in this market, and she hopefully will.
TellyGenic 33 Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 We said the same thing about Roz Abrams, IIRC....
bhratbrat 437 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 We said the same thing about Roz Abrams, IIRC.... And Roz burned a lot of freaking bridges. Cora Ann has been the ever steadfast loyal soldier just like Brenda and Rosanna on that sinking ship named WWOR and WNYW. I actually won't be shocked to see the FCC pull Fox Ownership away of WWOR and make it a true New Jersey Station again.
anchorman 96 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 We said the same thing about Roz Abrams, IIRC.... Roz pissed off WABC and WCBS execs, AND had years left on her contract after she left 2. Different situation. Different personalities.
AceHawk447 17 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Returning to Cora, re anchorman's first suggestion...PIX 11 may make some sense, given that a few other past 5/9 correspondents (e.g., Mike Sheehan, Jennifer Jordan) have wound up there. At 11, she can be one of the primary subs, or even a likely weekend co-anchor for Jim Watkins, to go along with field assignments. Channel 7 would also be a possible landing spot for Cora...a likely anchor slot for the new 4p 'cast?
TellyGenic 33 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Channel 7 would also be a possible landing spot for Cora...a likely anchor slot for the new 4p 'cast? Except that WABC doesn't hire "cast offs" from the other NY market stations - all their talent is either homegrown or imported from other markets.
TVNewsWatcher 6 Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Roz pissed off WABC and WCBS execs, AND had years left on her contract after she left 2. Different situation. Different personalities. enlighten us, how did Roz piss off WABC and WCBS?
