I'm hoping that this is the temporary set because if this is it, i'm not liking it at all. Way too simple. Major downgrade.

Too bad -- it's literally been 10 years this month since they updated the main set, which debuted in 1996. They are desperate for a new one.

The set was tweaked when they went HD. The single stack of CRT monitors on the right side of the desk were replaced with tripple stack of LCD's and a frosted plexiglass panel. And on the right, some more wood paneling was added as well as LCD screens.

This set is used for Early Edition (weekdays and weekends) as well. Looks like most of it was sourced from IKEA, and you could call me unimpressed.

 

I think they've pretty much ended the newsroom walk-and-talk experiment, as last time I saw the noon show (admittedly, a while back), they were at this set for the duration.

With this KPIX "set" and KNTV's new digs, KGO and KTVU need to update their studios to keep up with the sleek modern studio trend.
