mre29 1537
Am I the only one who thinks the graphics are somewhat tasteful? Nope. They're not nearly as bad as people here make them out to be. bhratbrat 437
The reason why KPRC is getting so much flak is the same reason we cut down "Your Newschannel 3" WTKR. It is a shell of itself. Lets face it Post Newsweek is successful in Detroit, San Antonio, Miami and Jacksonville. KPRC was a strong 2nd place station up till Post Newsweek bought them and a myriad of changes is just become fact. A station needs steady talent and steady graphics and steady music and steady everything. The News 2 Houston experiment was innovative at first but yet over on the Allen Parkway 11 NEWS was just sticking to guns had a quick change and now they are tops. So KPRC has just been passed up and reputation is going to take a while for it to catch back up. Graphics: Considering they are IN-HOUSE I give them a B+ because they are really good even though they are not nearly as flashy as KHOU and KTRK. Music: I know I talked to some people about dreaming if Advantage came to Houston. Advantage IS NOT A HOUSTON THEME! Houston is a market to where you got to have a theme that can stand out more than Advantage does. Only reason Impact V.2 does well for KHCW is the fact that it is very powerful. I would like for them to maybe try and fit in there old KPRC theme with a current pack from Gari, Arnold, or Rampage. Set: Newsroom Set vs. An actual set. PUSH Direction is going up but you can only go up from bottom Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/858-kprc-houston/page/2/#findComment-9380 Share on other sites

Do they need to be flashy? I mean, flashy can be nice, but it can also be bad and come across as too busy. (Not that KHOU or KTRK have graphics that are too busy; in fact, I like what I've seen of them, as well.) Perhaps being less flashy helps KPRC stand out from the competition. Just sayin'. [Disclaimer: I live in southern NH, a submarket of Boston, and have never been anywhere near Houston. So I've never seen the graphics for any of the Houston stations on an actual TV screen, just my computer. I'm also a layman with no real graphic design skills. Just so you know. ] Mike Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/858-kprc-houston/page/2/#findComment-9388 Share on other sites
HoustonNews 0
KPRC's previous graphics were a lot more flashy and tabloidish than the current ones. They also had a much better look to them. As far as I know, those graphics were also in house, so I've seen what good graphics KPRC has put out, they just skimped when creating the current package. Personally, I think it would be cool if KPRC had some WNBC-style graphics and maybe used either The Tower or WNBC News. It seems like those packages would work well in Houston. (It probably won't happen, I know.) Link to comment https://localnewstalk.net/topic/858-kprc-houston/page/2/#findComment-9398 Share on other sites
nbc9houston 22
Groove Additics "NBC L.A. Groove", Stephen Arnold's "The Rock", and some packages from Gari's NBC Collection (e.g. Flagship, Premier) would be my personal choices for better KPRC news music. It would also be nice if Hometown News would be blended in with other Gari packages such as News Source or the One and Only (WPLG 2001 cut). One other Post-Newsweek station to have a blended package with The One and Only is WJXT, which has been using that cut since going independent in 2002.
