WVEC/ABC promos from January 1992. Includes a news brief with Mike Lewis. Love that weird supposed "Turn To" update!

Oh gosh, this team. I spent my mornings before school (elementary school) with them. Charlie & Diane were like a married couple (the mom and dad) as the co-anchors. Robin was the cool aunt you wish you had while doing more then just reading the news. And Tony was more than the meteorologist; he was like an honorary uncle. This team (and their era by extension) was like a second family to me (and by extension, us), and you can really tell from the chemistry with each other and with us the viewers. I wish they were #1. (yeah, I know it's cheesy)

There's folks that remember distinctive brands that resonates with a station. Some have dropped the brand just to bring it back. Look at KYW & WLS. I would think folks would be outraged if KGO uses the Eyewitness News name, and KPIX has used it off and on for several years. Yeah, KPIX is not using it now, but you never know they might bring it back. WOIO might as well go back to either Action News or just 19 News. And whether they change the branding or not (doubt they will) their ratings will still be a status quo, unless they change their content formula. Good luck trying to beat 3 & 8.

The (mild) bloodbath continues at WAGA!! First Lisa Rayam; then Gurvir Dhindsa, and now...Karen Graham is calling it quits on Good Day Atlanta (she announced it in sign language, though she's not deaf herself)! And this comes just as Alyse Eady has made herself home! I wouldn't be surprised if Fox 5 still has Amanda Davis's number somewhere (maybe Russ Spencer); she was one of Good Day's first hosts in 1992. After all, WVUE's longtime 10:00 anchor John Snell has been demoted to mornings.

Agreed on CBS 19 being their next brand. Even though it was already used from 1996 to 2000, "CBS" is the best thing going for them. And their logo already represents it anyway.

Why would they use a brand WEWS previously use?

Here's my prediction... (CBS) 19 Eyewitness News in 2017.

Prior to Action News, WOIO was 19 News (1995), CBS 19 News (1997), Hometeam 19 News (1999), and back to 19 News (2001). With Mancuso resigning, it's safe to say that Cleveland 19 News is a failure. The only way I could see WOIO being competitive again is if they bring back Action News but similar to the last few years of the format.
