  1. WVEC in 1987 - we'd only seen a partial clip from this series of opens until now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=TEFvv31DoV0;t=26

  2. Wrong, just wrong.... They make a big deal about promoting from within, when they hired Antwan and Teresa full time. Then not a year later dump them with no notice and no chance for them to say anything. Would be nice to have some mention of Teresa and Antwan, Fox 5. I loved them together and separately. Would love to know how Jen became such a prodigal daughter over there (she really has been from the minute she started) Team Antwan and Teresa here..... Really hope the best for them, they were great replacing the big shoes of Juliet and Ben. Wayyyy too many changes.

  3. Of course the gray/tan set with wood and blue accents was the "in thing" in the 1980s. (WJW and KOVR nearly identical sets above, obviously done by the same firm). I'm just curious if anybody knows what companies did designs/fabrication in that era and if they're still around?

  4. Really would have rather seen Steve Rudin or Veronica Johnson get the big promotion to take over for Doug Hill.

  5. WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, IN has dropped its weeknight 7pm newscast on the .2 Fox/MyNet subchannel. The final broadcast was on Friday, August 25th. The station still produces a 10pm newscast seven days a week.

  7. Ewwww A legacy ABC game show leading INTO CBS network game shows??? The Game Show Purist League ( The GSPL) will poop out Plinko disc (or chips...or rounds...whatever the hell those plinko things are) and send the yodeling man off his cliff... to a sudden death. Are you people mad?

  8. I did some digging, and his name is Roger Cawthon. I guess he did the evening sports between Brad Face and Scott Cash. There's not a whole lot about his time at WVEC, but he's now a building contractor in Virginia Beach.

  9. So nobody is running a special on the Air and Water Show this year? That's a shame.

  10. Graphics Express group of San Diego...... Tho sometimes the set designs were done in house by corporate, ie Group W's godawful set that WBZ and WJZ had in the late 70's, or Post Newsweek's simple set with a window (WTOP/WDVM, WFSB, and the first PNS designed set for WDIV). Then there was the "set in the round" which included either one or two TriVision weatherboard/chromakey units. The single Tri's included WXYZ, WKYC, and KPIX, and the dual Tri's included WLS, KTVI, and KOB-TV. And in fact, the Broadcast Design Association published a book with the schematics and blueprints so a local station could build their very own "set in the round".

  11. I've noticed that sets used by WOR/WWOR, WTVJ and WTSP all kinda looked similar, so add those to the list. All these sets had to have come from somewhere.....
