  1. A close to WAVE TV News in 1987: Kentuckiana weather got so bad that summer that WLKY was knocked off the air at one point: It took them until next morning to get full power:

  2. It's more KPNX from 1996...except a change seems to be in the air, as a new variant of the logo with NEWS in the state outline is beginning to appear...

  5. Seems more like the sad thing that's claiming all the other ministries on radio and television unless they aren't prefixed by 'mega-'; budgets, an ignored kind message, and no real successor to those who pass on. That's how the Green Bay Sunday Mass on WBAY ended up going away; the media person in the local diocese passed away and the church didn't have anyone else to do it (WBAY was originally owned by the St. Norbert's order), so they went with a generic brokered national mass. And thanks to infomercials and house-flippers, the time is easier to sell to them than precious studio time with staff on hand. It probably would have been gone with Hearst, Sinclair, Ion or any other station group.

  9. Definitely a surprise. It seemed like he was a KGW lifer. He and Laural Porter have been paired together for more than 20 years and were a really great anchor team. It's hard to imagine KGW nightside without him, though I'm sure they'll manage. This interview from the Oregonian sheds some more light on it. Turns out his adult children all eventually moved to Chicago and the midwest. Not everything boils down to "Tegnitis," whatever that's supposed to mean. http://www.oregonlive.com/tv/2018/02/portland_kgw-tv_news_anchor_jo.html

  13. Jack Hynes is up in TV news heaven together with John Henning, Dick Albert and Chet Curtis. They'll never be another Jack Hynes. Thoughts, prayers and condolences are with the family of Jack Hynes and his extended family at WCVB NewsCenter 5 and WLVI 56 (Original) News at Ten Team (Pre-Sunbeam). Rest in peace, Jack Hynes and Godspeed.
