  1. Finally found a non horrendously recorded version of KHOU's 1989 theme that plays effectively at length (almost 1:30!) - though I am still curious as to who did it. The news package and the image stuff are somewhat of a departure from TM's better known work which inspired this, and several of the other subsequent packages that they used over the years.

  2. No real good Cox thread to put this in, but Cox has renewed affiliations with the following CBS affiliates today: WHIO (Dayton) KIRO (Seattle) KYMA (Yuma) KVIQ (Eureka) WJAX (Jacksonville) via Hoffman

  3. World News Tonight hits historic ratings milestone World News Tonight With David Muir led all shows on broadcast and cable for the week [July 6] in total viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. No network nightly newscast has pulled off that triple in at least 28 years (since the beginning of Nielsen's electronic database in 1991-92).

  4. Interesting.. I’m gonna assume here that either Kori picks up the 6 and then him and Tamsen do all 3 shows... or... one of the evening shows get a new team..

  5. I don't have any insider information, but I can't imagine that things are good over there. Just spent a week at home in Chicago and channel surfed. It's amazing how lackluster the product they're putting out is compared to the other stations. It's just not nearly as polished as the other stations. Extremely disappointing in market #3. One of the glaring things I found in watching is that Brad Edwards is unlikeable. I don't know who in their right mind though replacing Johnson with him was a good idea. I half expect him to try and sell me a used car at an inflated price. He's not a good anchor, point blank. He doesn't seem invested in what he's doing and comes off at not genuine AT ALL. I don't know exactly what can right the ship over there, or if anything can.

  6. Back in the day when I was a young news junkie, I used to write (yes, this was before email) to talent at stations in my local market (Los Angeles). They were all very gracious and would send autographed head shots and scripts from previous newscasts (I liked to see what exactly their scripts looked like). I wrote to Laura Diaz when she was at KABC if it would be possible to get a Circle 7 pin. She basically insinuated it would take an act of God LOL. Also, in one of the recent KABC Eyewitness News anniversary videos on YouTube, I believe it was Ellen Leyva who said that the Circle 7 pins are under management's lock and key.
