  1. And.....scene for CBS News! That is a wrap! CBS will still have viewers for NFL and other big events. Today's firing of Scott Pelley is the proverbial nail in the coffin. Walter Cronkite himself could come back from the dead and viewers wouldn't watch.
  2. Bay Area Legend (with a stop in LA) Wendy Tokuda talks about her career and barriers she experienced as an Asian American. We are wrapping up AAPI month. Glad to see Wendy is doing well.
  3. Bottom line. KTTV puts out an inferior product compared to the other stations. They can't compete especially with a lot of their no-name talent. GDLA hasn't been watchable since Steve, Dorothy and Jillian. It became even less watchable when Tony McEwing retired. Add the fact that their main competitor, KTLA, continues to dominate mornings. KNBC is seeing a resurgence on Today in LA with the addition of Lynette Romero. KABC is the 800lb gorilla in the market. It made sense to cancel the 4am hour of GDLA. Curious how they will reassign Brooke Thomas. She is/was the 4-6am anchor. Not sure if she will anchor the 5am or be reassigned to street reporting.
  4. Looks like they took a page out of the ABC O&O talent opens. KFSN and KABC do a good job of showcasing talent personalities in the talent opens.
  5. Going to miss the CBS stations "ding" which denotes the top of the hour. I listen on KNX Los Angeles.
  6. Yes. They hired Melvin Robert formerly of Spectrum News 1 and FOX 11. He has meshed well with the team. Nobody can replace Sam, but Melvin creates his own niche.
  7. Just saw Megan Telles announcement on IG (@mtelly). Kirk is in as weekend morning anchor and weather. Nexstar strikes again.
  8. Did they announce that? I tuned in for a quick second this morning. I saw Kirk and Megan and immediately turned it off. Especially with Kirk doing double duty, it seemed a little cheap in a market the size of LA. If Kirk is indeed doing weekend mornings, who moves to the 4-6am weekday weather spot? Henry has been doing 6-11am weather since Mark Kriski was let go. I'm not opposed to Henry taking this shift, but a solid weather presence is needed on Early Edition to match Chris and Megan Henderson's chemistry.
  9. Eva Pilgrim is one of my favorites. A really good podcast with Raegan Medgie discussing their careers.
  10. Its sunny and 73 degrees 300 days of the year.
  11. I live in the LA DMA. This was a shocker. KNX News on 97.1 FM has been successful even though they continue on legacy frequency 1070 AM. LA has two sports stations on AM....ESPNLA 710 and AM Sports 570. It will be interesting how the new station will differentiate itself. Unfortunately, that doesn't really matter. All that matters is advertising dollars.
  12. No chance he was making $400k.
  13. Joie is a good talent. I enjoy her Tik Tok lives. I hope she finds a solid gig after Tulsa. I believe is from the Chicago area, she has a distinct sounding accent that is germane to the midwest.
  14. I agree that they need one team for the late morning/afternoon news. Lauren is solid though. Good choice. I have to wonder what KTLA will do when there is a car chase or big breaking news. Lu and Glen fed off of each other. Hard to do that in a solo anchor format. Unfortunately, this means the Weekend Morning News is in flux again. The weekend mornings really haven't been right since Chris Burrous passed. Chris flanked by Lynette, Liberte and Dayna was absolute lightning in a bottle.
