  1. Cheers to 35 years! LA's iconic KTLA Morning News went on the air 35yrs ago today! RIP to Sam Rubin. Up until earlier this year the 7am-11am portion of the program only had one weatherman the entire time....the great Mark Kriski. Sadly, he was let go earlier in the year due to Nexstar layoffs. The KTLA team still supports him as you can see by his recent IG posts. Morning reporter/fill in anchor Eric Spillman is the only original member of the program left at the station today. Each of the anchor parings across the years....Carlos/Barbara, Carlos/Giselle Fernandez, Carlos/Michaela Pereira, Frank Buckley/Michaela and now Frank/Jessica Holmes carry on the great tradition of ensuring the show exudes "LA's Very Own."
  2. Are they really going to run their newscasts off of one camera at the temporary anchor desk?
  3. Didn't Beutel solo the 6?
  4. Had no idea his farewell announcement was pre-recorded. Makes sense, I guess.
  5. In case you wondered how Glen leaned politically.
  6. Hoping it’s evenings. Watching Christine and Marla respectively anchor the 5pm and 6pm solo is awful. Christine is great and an LA icon and would pair well with Glen.
  7. And.....scene for CBS News! That is a wrap! CBS will still have viewers for NFL and other big events. Today's firing of Scott Pelley is the proverbial nail in the coffin. Walter Cronkite himself could come back from the dead and viewers wouldn't watch.
  8. Bay Area Legend (with a stop in LA) Wendy Tokuda talks about her career and barriers she experienced as an Asian American. We are wrapping up AAPI month. Glad to see Wendy is doing well.
  9. Bottom line. KTTV puts out an inferior product compared to the other stations. They can't compete especially with a lot of their no-name talent. GDLA hasn't been watchable since Steve, Dorothy and Jillian. It became even less watchable when Tony McEwing retired. Add the fact that their main competitor, KTLA, continues to dominate mornings. KNBC is seeing a resurgence on Today in LA with the addition of Lynette Romero. KABC is the 800lb gorilla in the market. It made sense to cancel the 4am hour of GDLA. Curious how they will reassign Brooke Thomas. She is/was the 4-6am anchor. Not sure if she will anchor the 5am or be reassigned to street reporting.
  10. Looks like they took a page out of the ABC O&O talent opens. KFSN and KABC do a good job of showcasing talent personalities in the talent opens.
  11. Going to miss the CBS stations "ding" which denotes the top of the hour. I listen on KNX Los Angeles.
  12. Yes. They hired Melvin Robert formerly of Spectrum News 1 and FOX 11. He has meshed well with the team. Nobody can replace Sam, but Melvin creates his own niche.
  13. Just saw Megan Telles announcement on IG (@mtelly). Kirk is in as weekend morning anchor and weather. Nexstar strikes again.
