  1. A market size does not determine a step up or step down. How much happier (or unhappier) you are with your professional life, personal life, living conditions, surrounding environment, your income vs cost of living and the opportunities available for your family determine whether a new job is a step up or step down.

  2. We are going to have to agree to disagree on this. Not everyone wants to work in NYC, LA, etc... and many can be very successful in smaller markets. Reportedly, the highest paid local meteorologist and sportscaster both work in Chicago.

  3. Could it be that Stefan wanted to return to the city he was born and raised in and nothing more? Chicago isn’t a step down or some dump.

  4. We all know about the 1985 WJW set. It went through changes. The 1st was a logo change. The 2nd was a logo change and a new color scheme. The 3rd was a name and logo change.

  5. And moving to L.A. is a step down too because it's Market #2? They're really not. Moving from New York to another city doesn't automatically mean your career is screwed - especially if you chose to take it. Some TV personalities have become legends in even lower markets.

  7. The 1993 variant of the set was my favorite, with the "ei8ht is news" being my least favorite. It just goes to show you what some minor refreshes and a few coats of paint can do to a well-built set.

  8. Is the NBC election set housed in Studio 1A? If so, the NN made beautiful use of it last night. Today doesn’t even seem to be as versatile with the space as NN was Monday evening.

  9. This is 3 days late, but re: Vince Gerasole leaving, here's the tribute post from CBS 2: https://chicago.cbslocal.com/2020/08/14/vince-gerasole-signs-off-today-at-cbs-2-here-are-some-of-his-favorite-stories/ Vince also really looked up to Pam Zekman (from being her intern, then being awestruck at actually being able to become her colleague, then setting up an online virtual tribute for her after her unceremonious lay-off) and it almost seems fitting to ride off into the sunset in the same (sort of) time frame. With Erin gone, it's ultimately a smaller morning team, since the breaking news and traffic roles have been combined -- which is a win for the bean counters of course. I also don't think execs want to do away with a traffic anchor in Chi, so ultimately, Yasmeen makes for the best overall morning pseudo-anchor / fill-in anchor they have at the moment without also commanding a large budget (just my speculation), since she's relatively new and still doing traffic like she was at KOVR. For Mugo, I personally think she has potential to move into an anchor chair sometime in the future (maybe weekend mornings if/when Suzanne retires/leaves?) / set for bigger things. Speaking of "nonstop news," as you referenced, here's a throwback [https://www.newscaststudio.com/2019/03/08/cbs-2-chicago-nonstop-news/] about that segment that really highlights how much turnover there's been at CBS 2 in just ~1.5 years.
