  1. I was actually thinking the same after I posted my comment. Not only is it spacious in that atrium, but it has a nice, massive picture window view of some of the urban landscape of that area, as well. That atrium reminds me of the upper floor studio across town that had a gigantic picture window view overlooking Columbus Circle that television productions have used over the years.

  2. I think Dr. Phil is realizing how hard it is to run such a network like this. His flagship program is on pause, the evening news is on pause, and 40 employees laid off again. Merit TV seems to be in such financial trouble. Not to mention the backlash against airing all those ICE raids. https://www.wfaa.com/article/news/local/tarrant-county/dr-phil-primetime-summer-hiatus-layoffs/287-d79bc36e-f954-4325-885a-668e5457892b

  3. Orange could be pulled off if it was well-executed. The best example IMHO was WKYC's second HD package they had until they picked up the Gannett package in 2008. Same with purple. The TVbD masterpieces of the 1980s are the prime example.

  5. The newer packages from Nexstar within the past 2-3 years are presentation-wise more modern looking than the repetitive CBS/ABC/NBC looks the stations have had for years now. The KOIN package (MOD-1) is OK, not the best IMO but I do like the customization for WFNA and KRCW. I do agree though, some MG packages are definitely better than the old packages Nexstar has.

  6. I'd say the package WKRN debuted last year and the PIX package are both still good from Nexstar.

  7. Nexstar is long overdue for some new packages. While all of their stations up to Media General (sans WAVY) have switched to their packages, there's still a few former Tribune stations with their packages floating around. The only recent package that's halfway decent is the one WXIN has. The others are getting stale. When WFNA launched their 9pm news in 2016, they used the "Triangle" Media General package that was introduced on WNCN for their relaunch pre-CBS. It lasted until WKRG picked up the current CBS package in 2018 and unified all newscasts under the WKRG brand. I wish they would do some more in Youngstown with WYFX's newscasts. They've been unified under the WKBN branding since their Nexstar launch as well.

  8. I think that part of the issue here is that the graphics package is meh. Even Media General's flat package looked better than this. The green doesn't work and the color is more sunset peach which works well as a highlight complimenting golds, blues and white, but not as a primary. Combined with the green, it's reminiscent of watermelon.

  9. Probably for the same reason restaurants and casinos don't have clocks: so you can't see how late it is.
