  1. To add to that, they were having "network difficulties" this past Monday night that caused them to cancel the rest of their 5/5:30/6pm newscasts. The replacement? An infomercial. There's also infomercials at noon. "Your Hometown Show" is essentially a paid program.
  2. Interesting to hear those promo themes used in a news update, especially three years after NBC: The Place to Be ran its course by the network.
  3. The LIN Media stations have debuted new websites. This update puts all the former New Vision stations on the same platform. http://www.wishtv.com/ http://www.wavy.com/ http://www.wtnh.com/ http://www.thecoastalsource.com/ http://www.ksn.com/ etc.
  4. Those graphics must have debuted in 1993 then... I recall another WSOC open from 93 on Youtube a while back with different graphics. I love that music! I'd be awesome if clean cuts of it surfaced somewhere.
  5. This video features a WPCQ (WCNC) open from 1988... can anyone ID this theme? Presumably used from 1988-89
  6. Unconventional WGHP news image from 1993... these are worth checking out! Neill McNeill: Kim Jenkins: Frank Deal: Rich Brenner: And station IDs...
  7. Cacky Catlett has left Wilmington's WWAY. She has been replaced by morning anchor Makenzi Henderson. http://www.wwaytv3.com/2013/07/16/wedding-bells-cackys-future-heading-to-virginia-its-still-for-lovers-right#
  8. I think their CG system is terribly dated... the graphics have followed the same basic layout for 10 years (lower thirds, fullscreens). WVEC's promo graphics are generally fantastic and don't match the look they're using. I feel a change is coming soon.
  9. All the graphics are the same... for now. The new 13News Now logo has popped up in a couple promos. They've also reverted back to the white cube mic flags they were using before.
  10. Clip from LNC rebroadcast of WVEC 11pm news, 1998: LNC Pilot 13 News at 10 reopen/weather forecast, 1998:
  11. That WTLV theme is awesome. Really slick open. Also, WMTW from 1994 (NMSA error... that means they were using Primetime News before 97)
  12. Clip from WAVY's Local Weather Station, 1998: Clip from WVEC's Local News on Cable, 1998 (not much, but a brief look at the channel's early days):
  13. That was taken from the archive.org opens montage I uploaded... as are several of the videos that user uploaded.
  14. Bob Bonner is leaving his post as sports director at WECT in Wilmington. He will be moving to a role on Carolina in the Morning. No word on a replacement... https://www.facebook.com/BBonnerTV/posts/208687892616346
  15. Not sure if this was posted about yet... Gannon Medwick is the new chief meteorologist at WECT in Wilmington. He comes to WECT after nine years at WNCT in Greenville as their morning/noon meteorologist.
  16. Another one to add to the Joplin news theme drama from the same time KSNF used All the News... Turn to News?!?
  17. WAVY 6pm newscast, March 7, 1996: Don't tell me the camera move at 2:31 isn't cool
  18. I'm pretty sure the WRIC morning/noon theme is part of the 1990 "Discover the Difference" package. It does bear a strong resemblance to Symphony though.
  19. First 15 minutes of WGHP's "The Ten O'Clock News" from October 1996:
  20. It definitely is.
  21. Very recently... last month I think. It's only online right now. They're still using NBC17 on-air. If that's a preview of what's to come, I like it. Kinda looks like the Scripps graphics. I like the absence of the peacock... seems like every station wants to put it in their logo nowadays. This looks clean.
  22. Follow up... Nicole Livas replaces Ewell as co-anchor at 6 and 11. Anita Blanton has become the 5:30 co-anchor with Stephanie Harris. http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/portsmouth/weekday-evening-anchors-announced
  23. WECT chief meterologist Robb Ellis is leaving for WISH in Indianapolis. http://www.wect.com/story/21344416/first-alert-meteorologist-robb-ellis-trades-hurricanes-for-snow
  24. WSET meteorologist Jamey Singleton has been hospitalized after being involved in a serious car accident in Bedford County, VA Tuesday morning. http://www.wset.com/story/21252990/update-latest-on-accident-involving-jamey-singleton
  25. WAVY's Alveta Ewell announced her retirement during tonight's 6pm newscast. Her last newscast will be February 26th at 6pm. No word on who will be replacing her (I'd expect Nicole Livas, but who knows) http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/portsmouth/alveta-ewell-announces-retirement
