1. Sounds a bit like "Reaching Out to You". Another Tuesday piece, perhaps?
2. That's quite a find - Yours Truly on WVTM! And from Mr. NMSA's home market. Same 'cloud' set backdrop as WNCT had at the time.
3. So I'm assuming this ran concurrently with the "Nightcast" theme? I'd assume so judging by the teaser at 26:27
4. News out of WRAL and Capitol Broadcasting... Anchor Lynda Loveland is leaving the station. http://www.wral.com/lynda-loveland-to-leave-wral-for-family-farm-bureau/16934804/ James Goodmon, Jr., son of Jim Goodmon, has been named President & COO of Capitol Broadcasting. His father will remain Chairman of the Board and CEO. http://www.wral.com/james-f-goodmon-jr-named-president-c-o-o-of-capitol-broadcasting-co-/16933395/
5. Commercials, etc. from WAVY in January 1995. This is the earliest I've seen Newswire appear... not sure when the switch from The Team/Wall to Wall happened, but it may have been for the new year. Also included at 2:28 is a promo for the WAVY News 10 weekend team - featuring a production music track that is !
6. I did some digging, and his name is Roger Cawthon. I guess he did the evening sports between Brad Face and Scott Cash. There's not a whole lot about his time at WVEC, but he's now a building contractor in Virginia Beach.
7. WTVR was using the "WSLS 1988 News Theme" in '86... I'm thinking it was made for them since they were the Roy H. Park flagship station and John Keltonic is out of Richmond. Several years back, WTVR did a Charles Fishburne retrospective and they played a bit of the news open at the time, and it was the same theme used in the WBMG opens.
8. This one's a long shot... but who did this NBC credits music bed used around 1995? I guess this would have been before they used the Tonight Show theme which was used up until 2005 or so. I know there are better examples out there on YT; they're just hidden within 10/11pm newscasts...
9. The article might be referring to this promo campaign... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QI6QeNeP9uc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pc9WX9avwDI However, I had no idea it was by Robbin Thompson & Steve Bassett! ("Sweet Virginia Breeze") The Mission was definitely used as early as 1986 and as late as 1993, probably up until the logo change in 1994 which is likely when Signature was picked up. WWBT did use a couple of other themes here and there during the time, such as the mysterious 1989 theme and the NBC Affiliate Package, but they were all used alongside The Mission.
10. Ahhh! I love this theme. If I remember right, the one on the NMSA may have had slightly different graphics, but I can't remember because it's been so long since I've seen the clip. Maybe it was from later in '93. Speaking of KWTV, it looks like they may have been using "Going Global" by FirstCom in 1994, or a variant thereof...
11. Full WAVY 11pm newscast, June 22, 1994
12. Not sure if this has been posted. This video includes WGHP's open from 1997.
13. The difference with WRIC is that this is sponsorship of the breaking news segment. As FTVLive points out, the law firm's name will be on coverage of "breaking news" which will sound pretty distasteful when it's a tragic event.
14. WWAY used those graphics with The Image Leader in/around 1995. The video used to be on YouTube.
15. I feel like there's been a dry spot in new classic video lately! Hopefully those with ways to capture can scour for VHS tapes on Craigslist, eBay, their local thrift shop, etc. Always cool finding new stuff.
16. Andy Roberts, popular weatherman who worked at WTAR/WTKR from 1956 until 1992, has passed away.
17. Ah, another station using the "expanding blocks" graphics package of the late 80s!
18. Ugh... another "youthful" voice talent intended to attract a younger demographic.
19. WVBT clips and promos from 2002 with Kelly Wright and Nicole Livas.
20. I'm not too surprised. 29 is still a dominant #1, right? In Wilmington, WWAY hasn't had Saturday newscasts for several years now, even with the addition of CBS.
21. Snippets of a WTKR weekend 6pm newscast from 1998 with Stacey Baca, who is now at WLS:
22. WWAY will be leaving its Downtown Wilmington facility. Morris has purchased a new building just across the Cape Fear River in Leland. http://www.wwaytv3.com/2017/03/01/wway-purchases-property-in-leland/
23. The style looks similar to what WTVJ was using at the time... with the tabloid talent shots https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=LU8S8Gs5f6w;t=26
