Not news, but here's some WTVZ from 1986 with a logo I've never seen before. This is from before Fox launched later in the year:

This may have been posted before; I know the WRLH open has surfaced on Youtube... Richmond had some terribly boring opens in 1995:

WWSB in 2002:

Awesome to see that KWTV open, and especially the close again! Remember them from tvnewsthemes.net. Keep it coming @compubit!

Let’s take a moment to recognize how good Eyewitness Primetime is. Too bad it didn’t last long.
-
WTVM using similar graphics as WPDE at the time. And that’s one slick WDAM open for the era and market!

UNC-TV has the very first edition of North Carolina Now from January 19, 1994 available online: http://video.unctv.org/video/2365158112/ Eventually, the cheesy sitcom intro was dumped for a more conservative style. I'm not sure when this debuted, but it lasted through much of the 2000s up until 2011: In early 2011, the theme and logo were updated: In January 2016, North Carolina Now retooled itself as NC Now, going from airing from every weeknight to every Thursday night, dropping the host, and keeping the feature stories, but no more one-on-one studio interviews, etc. http://video.unctv.org/video/2365636628/ Unfortunately, it appears NC Now is no more - the last episode was produced in April 2017. I'm not sure who did the 1994 theme, but I have a guess that the 2000s, 2011, and 2016 themes are custom compositions by Charlotte's Concentrix Music & Sound Design (as listed in ) who have done a bunch of award-winning work for UNC-TV.

Looks like someone took a trip on the I-85 corridor! Love this stuff... fingers crossed that your travels took you points east of there!

Discovered composers & publishers of music themes

Speaking of First News, did any other stations use the theme KTVI used? -
Been waiting for digitaldave to post this again... I saw it a few years ago but it was taken off of Youtube. WAVY's "5:30 First News" open from 1992. My guess is that this came out in 1989 when the 5:30 newscast debuted. Certainly channels what then-sister station KXAS did with the "Night Team" opens... music intertitled in between the story teases.

That KPHO open is "The Visionary" by Soundtrack. Not sure what the close could be.

Any Weather Channel experts in here? Anyone know who did TWC's imaging music during the "No Place on Earth has Better Weather" era? 1996-98: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=9RSOzYqQVmY;m=14;s=36 That TravelWise promo sounds a lot like what 615 was putting out at the time... reminds me of In-Sink or News One. -

Speaking of Salt Lake City, who else thinks KSL 1998 has gotta be a custom Non-Stop theme? Considering they were based there, and KSL has been a longtime Non-Stop client... this sounds like a Non-Stop work -
The guy who uploaded it worked there at the time. He probably kept that take for kicks, or for a gag reel. I think he added the ID at the end since he's got a couple other WNCT vids on his channel with the same.
-
WNCT NewsCenter 9 ca. 1996 with the standard CBS News graphics. The studio lights fell on Meteorologist David Sawyer while taping this tease!
-
The theme is pretty terrible, but I want to see more of those awesome graphics. So much early '90s yellow-and-purple goodness.

WVEC launched a new, more dramatic format for their 11pm newscast last night, "Now at Eleven". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h=1;id=P4tevoFeHE4;m=3;s=55 It's becoming more evident that Philip Townsend is being groomed to take over for whenever David Alan retires...
-
FWIW, here's a snippet of the closing theme from that era I found from a video on a WYFF alumni facebook group (that's since been made private) a while back. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B1khSlAbjCvYQWVpUTdEcjNCZmM
-
Sounds a bit like "Reaching Out to You". Another Tuesday piece, perhaps?
-
That's quite a find - Yours Truly on WVTM! And from Mr. NMSA's home market. Same 'cloud' set backdrop as WNCT had at the time.
-
So I'm assuming this ran concurrently with the "Nightcast" theme? I'd assume so judging by the teaser at 26:27

+1 for a young Tom Schaad!

News out of WRAL and Capitol Broadcasting... Commercials, etc. from WAVY in January 1995. This is the earliest I've seen Newswire appear... not sure when the switch from The Team/Wall to Wall happened, but it may have been for the new year. Also included at 2:28 is a promo for the WAVY News 10 weekend team - featuring a production music track that is !

I did some digging, and his name is Roger Cawthon. I guess he did the evening sports between Brad Face and Scott Cash. There's not a whole lot about his time at WVEC, but he's now a building contractor in Virginia Beach.
