  1. KDFW, KXAS, WFAA and KTVT have all interrupted regular programming because of severe weather. Tornado Warning for Denton and Tarrant Counties.

As a longtime Texas Longhorn fan, and of college football, one of my all time favorite calls was "Miracle at Jordan-Hare Part I & II" and it was two unforgettable calls from Rod Bramblett I would never forget.

RIP, Rod and Godspeed... War Eagle, Everybody! (That ones for you, Rod).

  3. Carolyn Mungo has been promoted from executive news director at WFAA8 to vice president and station manager of the Dallas-based, TEGNA-owned station. She’ll continue to report to president and general manager Brad Ramsey, whose new duties will include spread-eagling himself as senior vice president overseeing TEGNA’s TV stations in Austin and San Antonio (KVUE and KENS respectively). In a memo, TEGNA executive vice president and chief operating officer Lynn Beall said that Mungo’s “efforts to innovate, experiment and build a deep and loyal connection with DFW audiences across platforms make her perfectly suited for this leadership role at WFAA.”

  4. Would you believe its now been 25 years since New World/Fox deal was announced. IIRC, Raymie did an essay on New World at 20 and how the network switch changed local and national TV forever.

Gray Television is now getting into the multicasting and expanding deeper into the OTT business. It's teaming up with Grand Ole Opry parent Opry Entertainment Group (whose parent, Ryman Hospitality Properties [as Gaylord Entertainment], launched The [original] Nashville Network [now the Paramount Network] in 1983) to launch a multiplatform network and VOD effort focusing on "artist-driven country lifestyle programming."

As a fan of country music, we need a new TNN or CMT. The question is... is this new country network going to be a diginet or is it going to be on cable?

  6. Another DFW Veteran broadcaster is hanging up the mic. Longtime KDFW FOX 4 anchor/reporter Richard Ray is retiring on May 1st, but his last on-air newscast will be Sunday, April 21st (Easter Sunday). Richard has been in broadcasting for nearly 50 years; 36 years at KDFW. We wish Richard Ray all the very best.

(In a subsequent tweet to unclebarky.com, Ray said he’s just been informed that Fox4 has added a May 1st sendoff during the 9 p.m. newscast “and maybe more. KDFW TV & Dallas/Fort Worth have been good to me.”)

TexasTVNews, what is KWGN going to drop to carry Court TV?

    • THIS TV
    • Comet
    • Charge!

or will they launch channel 2.5.  My guess would be they would drop charge!.

To tell you the truth, I don't have the answer for that. However, I can be wrong, but I can predict that KWGN will launch channel 2.5 for Court TV.

  8. I gotta to remind you, the new CourtTV already has distribution agreements with station group owners including Tribune, Scripps and Univision that will enable it to reach 50% of the U.S. at launch, with cable carriage representing 25% of cable homes. Tribune Broadcasting will carry Court TV in 22 markets, including New York (WPIX); Los Angeles (KTLA); Chicago (WGN); Philadelphia (WPHL); Dallas-Fort Worth (KDAF); Houston (KIAH); Miami-Fort Lauderdale (WSFL); Denver (KWGN); St. Louis (KTVI or KPLR); Seattle-Tacoma (KCPQ), Washington (WDCW); and Sacramento, Calif (KTXL).
