If there were only a copy of some clean cuts of the KTLA package.. grew up listening to that theme every single day until Flashpoint was put into place.Hopefully these will help answer some of the questions. Regarding KTLA, I was in contact with Hal many, many years ago as well, and had a copy of the VTS 90's work for KTLA and cutlist. And you are right that it was the first package done by VTS for KTLA, based upon the early 80's logo, produced by another composer and company. The VTS KTLA package was about 225-250 cuts. Concerning the CBS 88 package, I worked for 2 CBS affiliates in the very early 2000's. I saw mutiple reels and information still left over from that era. The reason I said 99.9% is because I do not have a copy of these, in the rare event I'm 0.01 wrong, which would be shocking, then the 0.01% chance covers my tail. But I've seen a handful of the reels... which contained multiple versions of the network verion of the vocal campaign and surprisingly many more arrangements of the affiliate news themes than typically was purchased and shared with the affiliates. CBS spent major money on the campaign that year in the late 80's, and for good reason. They were flopping in the ratings. Now, that is well documented for sure lol. Hopefully that answered some questions TServo2049. I will be in touch soon over some information discussed in this topic, and as discussed with Raymie yesterday.

Oh i can tell you it was used across all newscasts. I remember it even so on the 11.It might also be 4:30 only. It's not at all like the Silvertree theme ("KFMB 1992").

That's probably production music... seems like I've heard it somewhere else before.
See, now that i think of it, i agree. I was only 5 at the time, and only vividly remember News 88 used on KGTV, and Groove News on KNSD. This scared the hell outta me when it was used on KFMB. Along with the rapid changing of scenes around San Diego.

This one is a gem right here. KFMB 4:30 open from '92 and a KGTV 5pm open. https://archive.org/details/tobacco_bry27a00
About the KFMB theme, i know it was used for less than a year before NS2K+ came on. Other than that, i have no information regarding it.

The best "We're 4 New York" ever. From 1993. From Edd Kalehoff's YouTube. Adds the first 30 seconds that was clipped on what some of us had as a Real Player clip from many moons ago. And the one YT user HollywoodDerek2 posted 5+ years ago.
If you cant help but sing this entire song out loud, something is wrong with you!

WTVJ 1974 newscast (with a newsdesk shaped like their '4' logo!):
A ton of other WTVJ newscasts from the 70s and 80s are posted. And the 1978 'behind the scenes' video.
FYI, this is Bob Mayer's personal YT page if nobody knew that beforehand.
