1. So at KNSD, Llarisa Abreu was doing weather on this mornings broadcast with Whitney there doing traffic. Not sure if this is permanent as her bio indicates she does weekend weather and her bio has been updated since Jodi was let go.

KNSD announced that Sheena Parveen will join the station as weekday AM/Midday meteorologist starting in October.

  2. The latest KGTV fire promo is killing me...

"More people watched 10 news for coverage of the Lilac fire"......

    "More" than what?

No attribution of any type...not even little tiny Nielsen numbers at the bottom of the screen.

The fire was not during the regular book. What the hell do they base that "more viewers" claim on?

Is this claim based on the overnights (ratings)...doubtful because I'm pretty sure it's still a giant NO-NO to post or share the "overnights" unless you have permission or a rider in your Nielsen agreement.

It's just a play on words.

    A fabricated non-fact that can never be proven...nor dis-proven .

And they wonder why nobody trust the media.

They probably based it on testimonials from "average viewers" like Bob, Sally and Susie, whom told them that they watched 10News over News8 and NBC7.

  3.
Rather than bumping an old thread regarding Telemundo 20 I’m San Diego or I thought I would ask my question here and maybe @Eat News or @A3N could answer. Does KNSD/ NBC 7 provide traffic and weather updates during the local avails during Un Nuevo Día? I know their station breaks are different from the Today Show ones. I ask because Telemundo 20 plugged NBC 7’s morning newscast. My Spanish is rusty and couldn’t keep up with what they are saying. There was a video on Vimeo that was a promo for NBC 7 in Spanish but I can’t find it now. On the same topic WCAU do the same for WWSI (maybe @HulkieD could answer)? How much would it cost to say translate an hour of news from NBC 7 to air right before Un Nuevo Dia? Also why would KNSD have this video from KFMB on their Vimeo website: Thanks in advance if you guys are able to find anything out?
I don’t watch T20 in the mornings, but I’m assuming they either don’t give traffic and WX updates, and if they do it’s probably just a few graphics. In regards to that KFMB video, my guess is that was supposed to be an internal video. An aircheck of the rival station for marketing purposes, perhaps? Either, someone messed up.
  4. For as much as I (We) bag on KGTV...I want to take a little time out and point out they actually do some steller reporting sometimes....

One bad actor off the streets of San Diego.

    http://www.10news.com/news/uc-san-diego-student-arrested-after-laundry-room-panty-thefts

    I smell an Emmy.

    (yup...i did)

    Among other things...

    10 News, Stories that Matter.

Will they have a follow up to this story tomorrow on "10News This Morning", their 10News Mobile App (download today, free from the app store), 10News at 11 AM, The Now at 4 PM, and 10News at 5, 6, 7, and tonight first thing at 11 PM???? I can't hardly wait to find out what kind of studio shot angle they will use.

Do we need to issue a Breaking News Alert? Will the Breaking News Tracker be dispatched?? Is Sky 10 "first" over the scene???

    FIND OUT AFTER THE BREAK.

But first, call in right now to win $1000 in cash, only on 10News!

    [insert BREAKING WEATHER ALERT here]

  5. Sinclair could also conceivably buy the radio stations depending on their level of integration with the TV station — see KOMO. However, their M&A plate is more than full right now, at least under the current rules.

That's something to take into account. Good points.

I made a new thread on the sale.

  6. Cox would probably be the only buyer that would keep the radio stations, if they were to be sold as a unit.

True. Although, they could choose to off-load separately if that keeps a buyer from purchasing the TV station.

The radio stations are operated by a separate company (Local Media San Diego) these days. That company would probably get the radio stations in any sale.

Not anymore. They dissolved that agreement less than a year after they started it. So now management of the radio stations is back to Midwest.

  7. With those calls, I would guess WIMP was doomed from birth...

I don't know eat, better to be a WIMP than a KUNT...

Well, maybe in this business, it might not be such a bad thing...

  8. There was a hand painted sign on the fence that surrounded the KGTV heliport "Sky-10 Heliport"...

    Over the years it faded..

I so wanted to steal that sign.

I'm a big fan of that rotating 10 above the cement pillar. If there was one thing to steal from there, it'd be that. LOL.

  9. I recall that KGTV was testing out a drone about 3-4 years back when they canned their own helicopter. Nothing ever materialized from that test. So they were left S.O.L.; No chopper and no drone...

But they did get a new nifty SKY 10 animation a few years back, for a chopper that no longer exists.

  10. It's a lil fuzz nubber named Travis Rice...from WCBD in Charlston SC.

I had a screen grab but got scared and threw it away... cuz this guy looks underage...I don't want to go to jail this week.

Ah yes. Haven't been able to catch him on air, but let's see how green his reporting chops are.

  11. Ohhhhhhhhh...

I didn't know hubby got a job up there.

I was hoping for something a bit more sinister and gossipy.

Hey did ya see KGTV hired Justin Bieber to report???

Now Bree Stephans will have a date to the Prom.

Are you referring to Matt Boone, or another new guy they just hired? The name escapes me...

  12. He will get steady work for a few months...

Then he will have to find a "real" job and roommate...waiting tables in weho during the week just to afford the rent.

Maybe Gene and Chase Cain can be roomies...and share war stories of the tough ladder they both climbed to the

    "top"...or share Chihuahua grooming tips.

KFMB must really suck if people are ditching full-time gigs for questionable L.A. gig's with no bennies and a cash take-home of about $220 per day before taxes and insurance.

He had no choice but to leave KFMB, since his husband got a job in LA. He's a good reporter, he might find something full time down the road.

  13. Freelancing at KCBS....how glamorous does it get?

    Interesting choice.

There is a lot more to this that I need to process.

At this point, I doubt he even cares if it's at 2, as long as he can say he's working in LA. But KCBS seems to be operating full speed on the freelance route, so he's going to need a lot of luck and time to get a contract. IIR, Kristine LaZar became full time a while back, after almost 10 years of freelancing at 2.

  14. Gene Kang out at KFMB, will be freelancing Market #2. Station to be announced shortly.

Most likely KCBS/KCAL, since there's a picture of him sitting behind the KCBS newsroom desk back in late August.

  15. Aside from the new look/set, Telemadrid is making big changes to its newscasts. They made some big hires in the last few months--they managed to poach Lourdes Maldonado from Antena 3.

On a side note, Informativos Telecinco also got new graphics

  16. What is it with Dallas and Robinsons? Apparently kxas has two branded ones. One for the morning and late afternoon/evenings - so they can take a breather?

Maybe you would be better off with an R-66. Just think of the amount of money KFMB could make if they continued to charge the same rate but by operating an R-66.

Don't give them any ideas. The jet ranger is a piece of shit anyways, so anything less than one of them fancy A-Star's is a major downgrade.

Plus KFMB only has editorial control of the chopper. The contract/money portion is handled by Total Traffic network with Welk aviation.

  17. But not before Sinclair changes their name to Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft first.

That already exists. It's called RT (Russia Today), which gets just as much criticism here by some in the corporate media - if not more - as Al Jazeera (aka the "terrorist news network" as people call it).

I'm aware about RT-- Most people aren't even aware that it's Putin's/Russia propaganda outlet.

Which is why I came up with Putin Media Service, to make it abundantly clear who the Sinclairians hope to model their new network off of.
