  1. There's a brand new NewsCopter7 in the air (although it looks just like the last one...). Check out @abc7ny on Instagram for some pics and info.
  2. Looks like they updated the West Coast feed and had David redo the first segment with the handheld mic. It really was a silly idea to have WNT live from inside the stadium..and live in Arizona. Not much benefit to ABC News here, just free promotion for corporate cousin ESPN. They could've easily covered the story using an ESPN reporter or the two Good Morning America correspondents that were there.
  3. Think you answered your own question... Probably research/focus groups told them showcasing Matt & Savannah together was a better start for the show.
  4. There's some better news for Good Morning America, despite it being Christmas week. I watched nearly the entire broadcast on Monday morning. I have to say, the worst parts have been where Lara seems to take control of the show. Having Josh and Sam there as her buddies really balanced things since they played so well against each in the segments where Lara led things and George/Robin take a backseat. Don't get me wrong, I like Lara but she's not paired well with George and Robin. On another note, Amy is doing an incredible job!
  5. Because they need people that a national audience recognizes. I'm sure they'll use their local ABC O&O mets from time to time like they do on World News Tonight, but for GMA - especially with ratings sliding - they need some people who can help retain or boost ratings a little bit.
  6. Sam Champion is back all next week filling in for Ginger Zee.
  7. He's still at The Weather Channel and has a weekly prime time show starting in early 2016.
  8. Possibly Diane Sawyer or Sam Champion.. ?
  9. And David Novarro was in this morning for Ken (not sure if David did the noon also).. Which explains why he's not on at 4pm today.
  10. I can't believe the number of posts there are already speculating what Liz Cho and WABC *might* do if it's true that Cho's husband Josh Elliot *might* join FOX Sports and *might* have to move to California because his new job *might* be based in Los Angeles and Liz *might* move there, too. Maybe we should wait to hear first where Josh ends up and then wonder if Liz *might* move anywhere?
  11. She was freelancing for WABC, not a full time EWN reporter.
  12. I wouldn't trust anything published on the TunedIn NYC blog unless it's cut and pasted from a press release or a reputable source. Nearly all the stories are either anti-WPIX stories and/or stories attributed to unnamed sources.
  13. Eyewitness News at 5 will expand to Saturdays once college football ends. Ch. 7 made it official in their November sweeps press release. http://abc7ny.com/entertainment/wabc-tv-is-most-watched-in-new-york-and-the-nation/1105848/
  14. It's just an update to their promos for syndicated and local community programming. It's been like that since September.
  15. This morning's show was great!! What a huge accomplishment by the Good Morning America team. It was wonderful seeing that entire group of anchors, weather forecasters, news readers and even medical contributors sitting together!
  16. Agreed 100%. One of my favorite anchors at ABC. He did a superb job of leading World News Tonight out of some tough times and back to stability and even to #1 for a brief time. It looks like he is enjoying retirement and good for him - he deserves it!
  17. They tried this already from 2004 thru 2013. It was called ABC News Now. It started as a digital sub channel, was met with resistance by affiliates, never got full cable carriage, transitioned to online only then folded into abcnews.com. The air space went to Fusion.
  18. Yes! He was a candidate mentioned to be part of Good Morning America when Charlie left for WNT. Do you remember when he anchored Good Morning America Sunday wayyyy back before the show even had a full weekend team?
  19. The opening music has been pretty inconsistent all week and way too toned down today and yesterday. Anyone else watching/noticing?
  20. After watching Good Morning America each day, and replaying the opening compared to previous opens, I have to agree that the new theme music is a downgrade. The new graphics and the toned-down more serious feel of the show are big improvements. The theme music, however, is really underwhelming.
  21. Third time's a charm! Sounds like they used that part at 0:47 this morning and it worked well!
  22. The open this morning was much better.. but I wish they would use the actual part of the opening music that sounds like it is meant to be the audio for the opening sequence. Take a listen and pay attention around 0:47. http://www.networknewsmusic.com/wp/good-morning-america-2015-theme/
  23. I've noticed this shift, too, and I'm happy they're going in this direction. The fluff/pop news really got out of hand. Going into a presidential election year, it's a smart move to re-focus on the news... .and also a bit sad that there needs to be a re-focus on the news!
  24. Love the new look and music! Although I'll always be find of the previous look - I really liked how they were creative in basing those graphics and even the anchor desk off of their studio's exterior.
  25. Haha yes.. They also showed clips of a very opinionated news broadcast on a fictional "20th Century News" network. Those shots were shot inside what appeared to be a real news studio, I'm just not sure which one. The New York Post is also the paper of record in this show...Which is ironic considering many of its actual newspaper stories are also fictional.
