Perhaps things seem fishy to you because you do not have the facts, or care to understand them? Lori did not mysteriously leave with a taped goodbye. They blew out the the last 6 minutes of their newscast for a highlight reel and she said goodbye to viewers live on the air. They also posted her final sign off from EWN on social media. All of that for a person who decided to leave for a gig on a competing morning show. And there is no consensus that Shirleen is not well liked, or that she is well liked for that matter. There are a small number of posts by anonymous people claiming they know what type of person she is in real life based on how she appears on television, or claiming to know her from 20 years ago to now. Perhaps there is truth to it or perhaps it’s all made up. There’s nothing verifiable and no data to make any of it a fact let alone a consensus.

If true, sounds like ABC acted quickly and made the right call. Good on them for prioritizing the workplace environment.

Agreed. And the fact that it was caught on a mic means there’s a recording of it that will last forever and they know it will get out at some point. If they didn’t move quickly, it would be damaging not just to his reputation but also the station’s reputation and how management views the workplace environment.

It was not heard over the air, according to the Post article you shared. Rosato was off the air when he uttered the phrase, we’re told, but an insider told us his remark was picked up “on an open mic” and was “immediately let go.”

I wouldn’t say Lori left unceremoniously. They knocked out the final 5 1/2 minutes of the morning news to run a highlight reel and have her say goodbye live. Yes, it was something agreed upon with lawyers involved, but it’s pretty significant for someone that exited because of mismanagement and then jumped to a competing show. Steve was unceremonious because he was terminated for cause. Bill’s exit was definitely unceremonious. We’ll see if Ken’s exit is addressed.

And this morning it’s Mike Marza and Toni Yates at the desk with only Toni saying she is in for Shirleen.

Interesting. Michelle last said she was “in for Ken” when signing off Tuesday, May 9’s broadcast. Ken was last on the air on May 2. On May 4, he posted on Facebook that it was his birthday but he was dealing with back issues. Always had a feeling Ken would be next to go.

It happens everywhere, we just learn of it more often when it happens in television because a reporter or anchor that viewers see daily is suddenly removed from a program. In some cases, it’s also a credit to the network and its corporate parent that they take allegations seriously these days and will now act on things swiftly and publicly unlike other industries where behavior like this is still swept under the rug.

Exactly what I was thinking. He’s still on air so there’s no way for him to claim right now that they’re sidelining him. They can ask him to report from the field or any other studio as they please … I’m sure we’ll see a “Rob Marciano has departed ABC News and we thank him for his contributions to our organization” statement in the near future.

That would be nice and a good use of time. However, with news divisions running on tighter budgets and being asked to do more with less, I fear that more time for the evening programs will just mean more light news, extreme weather, viral videos and content traditionally seen on morning programs.

there are passageways you just walk through from building to building, but there additional security checkpoints before areas such as studios. if she was going to ABC News, that would’ve been announced and celebrated on air and online as an internal promotion… not just a silent scrubbing of her bio from the website. She’s probably off to a competing station or network.

The best WPIX morning team was the original team for The WB11 Morning News — Lynne White, John Muller, Linda Church, Lynda Lopez, Larry Hoff, Craig Treadway, Kirstin Cole, and Melinda Murphy in Air 11.

Looks like they have a stable team in place with Demarco Morgan and Rhiannon Ally. I would just leave them there.

ABC isn’t bringing back anything to that time slot that has higher production costs than what’s there already. News will control it with some form of GMA3 so long as the costs are low, ratings are stable and profits continue increasing.

Linsey Davis should’ve been dropped by ABC years ago after willingly participating in a staged crime scene live shot. https://variety.com/2016/tv/news/abc-news-staged-crime-scene-shot-apology-1201910160/amp/

According to Ryan Field, he’ll now be working Sundays through Thursdays. In the comments, he says this was his decision.

The issue in the newest allegations is not a matter of age and whether someone is adult enough to consent. The issue is a sexual relationship allegedly occurring between someone in a position of power and a subordinate, and allegations that sexual encounters took place on company property inside the office of the person in power. Even if that was fully consensual and the subordinate felt no pressure to engage in the relationship, that is a relationship that must be disclosed. In the case of TJ and Amy, neither are subordinates to the other, so there is no issue there. I have been fully supportive of TJ and Amy returning to air and ABC moving on from this. If the latest allegations are true, whether in part or in whole, then ABC should terminate TJ for cause and without any buyout offer. Unless Amy knew of the prior relationship with the subordinate and failed to report it, then I don’t see how ABC has a case to terminate her for cause, but do understand having her just sign a separation agreement with a buyout. It’s really unfortunate for both of them. Surely, they were both being eyed as the future of Good Morning America.

If any of what has most recently been reported about TJ — the alleged relationship with the script coordinator/intern/subordinate, sexual encounters with her in his office and drinking alcohol in his office prior to going on air — is true, then I would agree that ABC absolutely has the right to terminate him for cause. As for Amy, I still do not see grounds for termination unless she knew of the sexual misconduct and failed to report it.

All the big three networks moved the local news on New Year’s Eve to 10pm Eastern / 9pm Central. The networks wanted more time for national entertainment programming leading up to midnight instead of just the 11:30pm ET half hour.

Two adult coworkers began a relationship after separating from their spouses. It became publicized after a tabloid sent a photographer to spy on them. What lack of judgement? That they wanted their private life to remain private for the time being? Yes, let’s punish them for that.

Meanwhile, Amy appears to have reactivated her instagram. ironically, had ABC just left them on air until their planned Christmas vacation and had them return in the new year, none of this would be a story. ABC is the one who has prolonged and completely mishandled this situation.
-
Agreed. I’d hope that, if nothing improper is found to have happened, then they are given their jobs back.

CBS Mornings is just a toned down rip off of Good Morning America at this point, right down to the talent selection and their professional and personal backgrounds.

Here’s a great Washington Post column on how ABC is mishandling this. https://wapo.st/3Hkvzkz
