  1. This week, Chris Licht will show his programming genius by running the town hall every night in Primetime with Kaitlyn Collins and Anderson Cooper is a box in the corner shaking their heads at anyone who doesn't like it!

Also, new CNN slogan: "Get Lichted"

A little less important thing here is with the 'Columbia' part of the 'Columbia-Warner Network' out of the equation (at least station-wise), do we see a rebrand coming for the network itself like The NX, NexTV, or SookNet (I'm not serious on the last one)?

A rebrand from the CW, IMO, is a matter of when, not if.

“We look forward to reimagining these stations as independents while leveraging the considerable value of their prime-time real estate in each of the markets,” said Wendy McMahon, President and Co-Head, CBS News and Stations. “It’s an exciting time to look at new opportunities to add local programming, including live sports, and shows from across the Paramount Global brands. We are also grateful to have been part of The CW for 17 memorable years and wish our partners at Nexstar continued success.”

Clearly positioning for potential local sports opportunities as RSNs fail, and also I wonder if we could see some simulcasts of CBS Sports HQ or CBS News Streaming?

Even better question - are there options for the CW in those markets?

It sounds like KTVT is now CBS News Texas - but they've kept the CBS11 logo "in the box"...

If you had just the 11 in the box, that would be a pretty good interim news logo, IMO. The two eyes are overkill.

Shep is a really good and recognizable talent, and NBC will be dropping the ball if they don't find another spot for him.

I’m sure Shep wasn’t interested in sticking around after his show was cancelled, especially when CNN has a prime time slot that would be perfect for a known name. They might even be able to get him at a lower price since the only other major outlet who might be interested would be CBS.

Hmm, maybe an Anderson Cooper like deal where he could be a correspondent on 60 Minutes?

Well, I guess the deal is done.

Nexstar has announced the completion of The CW acquisition

Also announced that Nexstar board member Dennis Miller will take over as president of the network, replacing Pedowitz.

    From the article:

Now Pedowitz’s exit marks the begging of the end of the CW as we know it — a full-fledged broadcast network built on original scripted series — with observers expecting it to eventually resemble outlets like myNetworkTV or Pax.

No shocker here - Nexstar gonna run it cheap. Probably already looking for sports willing to buy their airtime for weekend programming.
